Default OT: I have the greatest Grandmother in the world.

Ok, so I went to check my ever-empty mailbox like I do every morning no matter if I'm expecting something or not and usually it's always empty except on thursday when I get my weekly check from my payee... Well, I went to open it and there was a very large yellow envelope, my payee check (it's wednesday... Early? Bonus!) and a newsletter I get around this time anyways... So... I sit down on the bench by the elevators and I see that the LARGE en elope is from my grandmother in Seattle (I live in Portland, Oregon). So, I open it going "She's sending me a second christmas gift?". Inside I see a envelope with a card and some kind of wrapped gift that looked like it's a magazine. I open the card and it read:
Merry Christmas Rachel,
Let's go to Canada - When it doesn't snow!
You'll need a passport or else your mother and I will have to leave you at the border.
Love,
(my grandmother)

I had opened it in front of a couple neighbors and they were wondering what I got. I almost went into shock! I'm going to CANADA! The magizine was for tripm planning to western Canada! I am so fricken thriled!!! I have never been out of the country and I have always wanted to. I am like, jumping up and down I am so excited!

I'M GOING TO CANADA!!!!

I have a sweater from canada... but I never wear it because I don't like wearing shirts to places I have never been myself because people ask me if I've been there and I have to say "No, this is a someone went somewhere without me and brought this back shirt."

Now I can wear it with pride because I'm gonna be going to Canada!

*Is still jumping up and down*

Wow, that is a great present! I think travel is one of the greatest ways to spend time and money (I'm addicted!). I've been to middle Canada a few times but never the western part--I know it's supposed to be incredibly beautiful.

Plus a passport is good for 10 years... who knows where else you might end up in that time period.

YAY I am from Eastern Canada...I'd love to visit Western Canada myself..I've lived in cottage country, Ontario (northern) and been to Niagara Falls..It's amazing!!! I found Toronto a little too fast paced for me..Newfoundland is a smaller province with a smaller population.

Ohhh! That is SO sweet of your grandmother to do- you all will have a blast. I've been to Canada many times (I live in NY and I can get to Niagara Falls in 5 hours, or Montreal in less hours).. I've also driven to Toronto. Take lots of photos!!
