Default Bra sizes?

Ok, this is a little personal but I'm really confused.

Before I started losing weight, I was a 44DD. I got down to a 40DD pretty quickly. I bought a bra from Victoria Secret that was a 38DD and fits great. Well, at Lane Bryant they are having a bra sale. I tried on 38DD and then tried on 38DDD. the 38DDD fits way better than the DD. I also got a couple 36DDD which are a little tight to wear, but why did I go up a cup size? I've never been this size before and was always a DD.

Please explain this to me!

I think it depends on the bra really if they're padded i think you need a cup size bigger.

But I always have padded so it shouldn't have changed anything, right?

The cup size changes at different band sizes. So the D cup on a 40D is smaller than the D cup of a 42D. So if you lose girth around your rib cage (band size), but not in your breast (cup size), you certainly could go, for example, from a 40D, to a 38DD.

Julie is correct. I got measured for the first time for a bra a few weeks ago, and I was measured at a 43 band, so I tried on a 44DD (which I had been) and it was too big in the band. The lady said that if I went down a band size and not lost any cup than I need to go up a cup size.

So I think how it works is

If you move from a 44DD to 42 but your cup is the same then you need a 42DDD to fit properly depending on the type of bra you buy.

I always buy the plunge push up bras at LB and I just took the airbags out of the 42DD and it fits perfectly.

Bras are made differently. I worked at Victoria's Secret for a while, and ladies came in wearing one size at our store and something completely different at another. Just be sure to get measured every 3-6 months as our bodies change little by little without our recognizing it sometimes.

I had something weird happen at Lane Bryant, I tried on the 38D in black, fit perfectly! So I decided to get white as well, well, in that one it was a 40DD. I still don't get that. Getting fitted for a bra by someone who is TRAINED is so helpful! Stupid bra's!

bra is as clothes. Each brand can have different size compare to the other company. I range often as well.

I'm really glad someone started this thread....LOL

I have my own bra troubles.....

I have the back fat problems....you know where it rolls over and then the bra folds down....I have heard so many different solutions.....get a tighter bra (which I have a hard time believeing), the bra is too low...the bra is too high....so forth and so on....

any suggestions?

As a woman that went from a 38DD to a 36B, I have no idea why you would have gone up a cup size. If you are in doubt, get a professional meausurement at a custom undergarment shop.

My boobs are gone. I look like I have canadian bacon rounds for breasts and I don't like them. I do like the Wonderbra though. It looks nice under my clothes and doesn't look "padded" when I take off my blouse.

I haven't tried them , but several brands make bras with bands specifically designed to not cause back rolls. They usually have the seamless look at the edges.
