Default Help! I've Fallen and can't get up!

Hi ny name is Kathy and I'm 46 years old. Almost 2 years ago I joined LA Weight Loss and lost 55lbs. I felt great, looked great, and loved myself. Now I've gained it all back but 2 lbs. Last year I tried Weight Watchers and lost 10lbs, but have yo yoed up and down. I currently weight 244lbs and feel miserable. My knees hurt and I have a hard time walking up steps.

I need to lose weight for my health sake. My Dad had a heartattack and my Mom's side of the family has heart problems too. I want to feel healthy and also like myself again.

My husband is my biggest cheerleaeder in my weight loss, but I get discouraged very easily. If I could get my head to think life change instead of diet it would help I'm sure. I also don't like exercising. I have a treadmill and ab lounger, but it's just collecting dust. Starting January 1 I plan on getting back on track and lose the weight and keep it off.

I would love to be of help to all of you and would appreciate your help and encouragement as well.

Hi kathy - I'm new too (well, a rejoiner). Just a thought about exercise - I hate treadmills and machines too! I go to the gym for classes, perhaps these would be better? I also have a friend who lost 78lbs last year who despises gyms, but found a love of rollerblading. What I'm saying is maybe there is something else, some activity you might like that counts as exercise (which really is just getting moving). Sometimes all I do is pull the curtains, pop on some music and dance round the living room like a nut for 30 mins. It all counts!

Good luck and hope to see you about more, I hope we become a big pair of losers

OK, you've already found some things that don't work for you. What WILL work is a lifestyle change. You need to make changes that you can sustain for the rest of your life. It may take some trial and error to find what works best for you.

The good news is that you CAN do this. And, you CAN keep the weight off

I look forward to your posts and reading of your progress. Asking questions and receiving support on 3FC really helped me on my journey!

Kathy,

Looks like we share some of the same problems with the weight fluctuations. My biggest problem is the getting past the sugar hurdle. Oh, how I love the bread and processed foods. That was my biggest problem with weight watchers, to many temptations for me to resist.

My doctor and I came up with a formula that worked well for me, but it took a few months to find the "magic" scale that worked best for my system. Although is not really a magic scale, it was a formula that best suited to my nutritional needs.

Once I get past the hurdle with the tendentious in my shoulder, I should be able to start weight lifting again. For now I have to hit the treadmill. I wish you the best and if you ever need a friend or a buddy to lift you up let me know.
