Yet another newbie!
Hello! What a "typical" time for me to be showing up...almost January....time to start over, but no matter, I'm here. I need to drop about 25 pounds and make some permanent changes. I've gone up and down over the years, luckily not by that much, but I have "extra" reasons why it's important for me to keep my weight under control as much as possible.
I lost my leg to cancer as a child, above the knee, and although I would hardly call myself disabled, it does mean that my mobility is greatly affected by my weight. I grew up, got married, had seven kids, fast forward 20 years, marriage split up (still not "technically") divorced, work full time, working towards bachelor's degree, newly acquired daughter in law, and soon to be a grandma in February (albeit the hippest, most off the wall, tattooed grandma out there!)
Anyway, I've had success with WW in the past, and will probably go down that road again, and I love FitDay (on my PC) for tracking everything, especially with my love of statistics, charts, and numbers, LOL. Exercise is my biggest challenge (due to the prosthesis) and not having a knee cuts out ALOT of options. I do own a recumbent bike (in storage) and some bands and weights. There are things I can do, although they are somewhat boring when I'd rather be able to walk, jog, or play some kind of sport for exercise. Unfortunately I have to work within my limits (like the rest of the universe I guess, lol.)
I also saved my pennies back in 2005 and had a tummy tuck to undo the damage caused by my seven big, healthy babies and would do it over again in a second! I blogged my way through the process so I could leave behind an accurate, moment by moment record for those considering making that investment. I don't want to post the link in my first post, not sure if that's breaking a rule or not, so why risk it?
In my spare time I love to read and write, and I have developed quite a tattoo addiction over the last few years, which my kids find very cool. I am a payroll coordinator for a GIANT chemical corporation and I also work at H&R Block during tax season. So I'm gearing up for some very long weeks (but lots of $$) over the next four months.
I guess that's it. I look forward to getting to know all of you (well...some....)
Teresa
