There's a glorious sunrise on this day after Christmas, the eastern sky is looking dayglow orange. What do they say about red sky at morning, though?
We're having a slow wake-up, and then are going across the river to my DD's in NJ for the day. We have a huge 3-story dollhouse for Carley that we have to take over to her. I can't wait to see her reaction, the house is 4' tall, and even has an elevator. She's going to be thrilled, I'm sure!
I think I'll make up a big plate of cookies to take, and the rest of the cream cake, too. Neither one of them are tempting me at all, but I don't want them to go to waste. I already put the rest of the cheesecake in the freezer, so that's out of the way. But we have enough leftovers to see us well into next week!
Jenski, I'm happy your son was so excited with his train! Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures. Christmas and children just go together, enjoy it while they're still little!
Good morning chicks! Have we all recovered? I know a lot of you are gearing up for more!
(you must not have recovered if I'm starting the thread at 7:30!!)
Christmas was wonderful. THe kids LOVED all their gifts, they are WAY TOO SPOILED!!
I had a delightful time having my friend/client over. It made it so much more fun knowing I was cooking for more than the same people I always do! And the only cheat I had yesterday was grandma's pineapple fluff, but it was well worth it!
I do have to go to work today...maybe (no appts yet). Until then, maybe get the treadmill in, and watch the kiddos with their new stuff!
Hi cottage and Twynn, I guess we'll be merged here in a mo'...
Happy day after everyone.
I missed my chance to start the thread, got up at 6AM to do some work, but decided to actually do the work instead of coming to play first. Jen, your pictures were precious. cottage, I am very excited for Carly.
DD is very happy that we were able to repair her doll good as new. I've got to work today, but I'm thinking it might be a good day to knock off early as I got an early start, and sneak off to see Twilight.
Good morning Chicks We're off to NY so just a quick good morning from here. I'm taking everyone's good advice and getting right back on plan today as much as possible. I've already decided to have 2-3 of my Mom's cookies (1 of each homemade variety!) but can still make everything else on plan. I love the scale's panic - it thinks I gained 5 lbs overnight! Since I ate maybe 400 extra calories yesterday , bad as that is, it seems unlikely!
morning all just sticking my head in to say hi...i'll be a permanent fixture after jan. 1 well maybe sooner lol...unfortunately food wise and money wise its impossible to start before then. so in the meantime i'm doing alot of studying and preparing.
Good morning, everyone! I've had breakfast and taken the dog for a walk and am going to go box more stuff up. Brian stayed up until midnight and then was up before 7 this morning to use the restroom and is back in bed asleep now. Of course, I woke up when he had the light on in the bathroom so I'm wishing I had more sleep.
Way too much food and wine yesterday, but am right back on track today. I had planned to eat whatever I wanted yesterday, so I took full advantage of that being my plan!
Lots of running around for us today. The girls both got Target gift cards and then gift certificates equally $100 EACH to spend at the American Girl store. I told them we would go today, which will more than likely be crazy, but oh well.
I need to go to the gym between those two trips, so will shower there and get ready for the day.
hee, Kiko, did you read my post yesterday about the headless AG doll incident? Just make sure if you buy a doll to take her out of the box and pull on her head before you leave the store!
I rolled myself to the computer this morning. Let's just say that yesterday was a little more off plan than I planned. As I plan to detox, I do have a question. Are beans limited in P1? You usually only hear about having one serving a day, but I haven't actually seen a limit.
Schmoodle- The American Doll incident reminded me of when DS was about 3. He got a stuffed parrot that was supposed to talk but didn't. I told him Santa could swing back by and take it to the workshop for repairs, but he said no. He said that he would keep the parrot just like it was because we should love people just like they are. AWWW! (Of course now that his teenage hormones are coming out I frequently have to remind myself that there is a sweet, loving child still hiding inside of him).
Cottage- What a great gift! You should have fun watching her as she sees it.
Twynn- Good job only eating that one planned treat! I'm glad the children enjoyed their gifts.
Cyndi- Isn't it wild how quickly the scale jumps?! Fortunately that water comes back off quickly.
Me4life- We look forward to seeing you more.
Barb- Maybe you can sneak a nap in later today.
Kiko- You are braver than I am! I won't be near any stores today.
Me- We got a Wii and Wii Fit for the kids yesterday, so the whole family has been mesmerized. I like the motivation it will give me to exercise in the am before I get ready for work- I did my 30 min this morning and it was harder than I thought it would be. I'm sure it doesn't help that I haven't done any exercise in the last 2 months.
We're postponing our trip to DD's until tomorrow, since they have a touch of that nasty stomach virus that's been going around. Jake had it on Christmas Eve, and is just now feeling better. So I tagged along with Jake while he ran some errands, and did a shop at Trader Joe's. I just had a lovely soup for lunch that I made with the leftover broccoli w/cheese from yesterday, while Jake had a turkey sandwich. We'll probably have Dustin & Andrea over for supper this evening to help eat up all these leftovers.
murphydoodle, I think 1/2 cup of beans equals a serving, but you may eat as much as you want on Phase 1. Just eat until you feel satisfied.
Schmoodle, I'm really surprised about the incident with your DD's American Girl doll. I wonder if it's an isolated incident or are they going downhill? I've always had impeccable service with them, so definitely let them know! I'm glad your DD wasn't upset and took it in good humor, though. She'll really have a Christmas memory to laugh about in the future with those pictures!
Kiko, remember to follow Schmoodle's advice at the American Girl Store!
Barb, RN BSN, me4life, and everyone else, I hope you're having a great day!
Yesterday was nice...just a low key day with my SIL and her family. Went to bed early last night and went in this morning to do all the pre-op stuff at the hospital. It's hard to believe that the 29th is just a few days away.
After the hospital, we stopped at Target to check out some after Christmas sales...nothing great. Ended up buying a few last minute things for baby.
Our bathroom floors should be done tonight and kitchen tomorrow. It will be ncie to not have to climb up the stairs 400 times a day to go pee.
Now, a nap. I'm exhausted.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and has a great day today!
Late check-in for me from the very snowy west coast. Record breaking snow here in Nanaimo and most flights are cancelled. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get out of here tomorrow morning. My flight back to Ottawa isn't until Monday noon but I did hope to pick up a rental and visit a friend in Langley overnight Saturday plus meet my sister and her family for lunch on Sunday. All being well, I'll be back in Ottawa Monday evening and home with my darling furries Tuesday night.
Food has not been good! (I am actually looking forward to eating clean!) It certainly has been great being with my DD and her family over Christmas. We were snowed in Christmas Eve so I didn't go back to the hotel that night. It was great to have Christmas turkey on the Eve and just focus on the kids and presents the next day.
Have a great Boxing Day and weekend. My DD has gone to work just now so the kids, my SIL and I are just hanging out and will hit the turkey sandwiches a bit later. See you next time I can get to a PC.
Schmoodle Success at the AG store. I have always had great service from them as well, I am not sure that my DD would have been as big a trooper as yours thought!
I am EXHAUSTED!! Met my SIL at the gym this morning and did a killer cardio and then lower body workout. We then went to DH's hotel for lunch, which was a delicious chicken salad that he made. Totally clean eating today. Woohoo!
I am going to heat up leftover chili for dinner- the girls are having leftover spaghetti. I have done nothing but run around for the last few days, so am looking forward to curling up on the couch and reading tonight. I think we will all be in bed early!
Too lazy for personals! Zeff Take all the naps you can girl!
