I can give you my best guess...I can't promise it is the actual reason, but it is a distinct possibility.
Stomach problems will often cause you to feel uncomfortably hot after eating the wrong food...too greasy, spicy, alcohol, etc. -- especially so close to bedtime. They often feel like hot flashes, but can also just make you feel uncomfortably overheated.
I have had problems with reflux and with "acid burns" -- kind of like baby ulcers in my stomach and my lower esophogus at various times in my life. Currently, on a healthier diet and smaller portions, I have found that the problem has cleared up almost completely, but if I drink wine too late in the evening, I also get the "furnace" issue going.
The interesting thing about stomach problems is that they do not necessarily have to be causing you pain in the abdomen, but can just cause other symptoms. So, you may be getting a little esophagal reflux with the greasy food and wine, not enough to be "painful" per se...although if you keep it up that may happen too...not fun.

But, it would account for the sense of being overheated.
