Question Swiss Miss Diet Hot Chocolate???? CAN WE?

This is what I drink normally but now on Day 5 of S.B. I really want it back. Getting tired of tea...IT HAS TO BE SWEEEEET. LOL The carb count is 4 carbs for one packet...I know, I have to get this through my thick skull this is not a low carb diet but can we have this to on Phase 1? I am trying to find this out on other sites. I am having a hard time trying to get through this just eating my SF jello. Plus I think we can have the sf hard candy and gum too, right? OR is there a limitation to this on Phase 1 (calorie content or type of sugar alcohols)?

Thanks everyone!

alright...do me a favor and never look at the carb count again while following SB.

It doesn't matter. At all.

There is a 75-100 calorie per day allowance for sweet treats. I have no idea what the ingredients are in the hot chocolate, but I'm assuming it is artificially sweetened which is why it is referred to as "diet"....in that case, it is probably ok.

Try something more filling as a sweet snack - a ricotta creme or something similar has a lot of protein and will indulge that sweet tooth.

Zeffryn..I am trying not to think about the carb count...Really, I am. LOL I KNOW! I AM THICKHEADED!!!

Okay, well, if there's a 75-100 cal. treat allowance, then I am cool. Just didn't know if this diet HC or the hard candy/gum with the type of sweeteners would affect the weight loss and I would stall in the Phase one. I plan on being on Phase 1 until I lose 10-15 pounds which would probably take me forever the way my body reacts. LOL

Thanks for being patient with this goofball!

You really should read the book, taben. It is unhealthy to stay on Phase 1 longer than 2 weeks.

I simply cannot support the notion to do so.

Take a look at the ingredient list for the hot chocolate. You can make your own (I think we even have the recipe posted) but the mix may have things added that are not allowed in phase 1. Many people don't realize they cannot have the SF pudding until phase 2 because of the thickeners.

The book helps with this information and our food lists are up to date.

I ocassionally have the swiss miss diet hot cocoa and it doesn't affect my weight loss or cravings. Just for future reference though, when you want to know if something is SBD legal or not you should try to list the ingredients instead of the carbs because that is what makes it legal or not, the carbs have nothing to do with it. No one can really answer you based on carb count.

BTW, when it gets close to xmas I always want to stick a candy cane in my cocoa so instead I sometimes add a drop of mint extract to it and its really good if thats your kind of thing.

Looking at all the added chemicals and other unnecessary ingredients in the cocoa mix really puts me off it. It's so easy to make your own cocoa, and it tastes better, too. Just put a rounded spoonful of unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch processed is best) in a mug, add 1 or 2 packets of Splenda, and add just enough water to make it syrupy. Stir well, then fill your mug with nonfat or 1% milk and 1/4 tsp. of vanilla extract. Stir again and enjoy! You can make variations of this, too, substituting SF syrups for the Splenda.

I was going to comment that the recipe on this site (that Cottage just listed) is so good, and so much better for you than the one with all the chemicals.
