Default Unexpected bonuses

I know we have had similar threads before but with the holiday food fest in progress I thought this might be a good time to remind ourselves of what we have gained (and prevent what we might...).

I've had 2 unexpected positive outcomes of changing my lifestyle (at least 2 that come come to mind immediately) -

1 - My skin is perfectly clear. I've always been prone to those annoying little ingrown hair rashes. I also had a persistent side of the forehead breakout. I never gave a lot of thought to either until a few days ago when I realized that I don't have either problem anymore.

2 - The major benefit for me has been the decrease in my inflammation level. When I started on this path 14 months ago I knew I had to do something to put off knee replacement surgery. I have some type of hard to define joint deterioration and all that extra weight really exacerbated things. I also have 2 seriously damaged discs - one in my neck and one between my shoulders. Neither is caused by excess weight. I'd learned to live with chronic pain caused by the shoulder level disc. When I first started working out regularly I could go about 15 minutes before the pain started. I had to learn to push those boundaries a little just so I could increase my endurance. Fast forward to today. I walk an hour a day, almost every day; I do yoga; I use 5 lb hand weights, I bike when the weather allows and I rarely have pain that knocks me down anymore. My med prescription actually expired I haven't refilled it in so long. I also rarely wake up groaning when I get out of bed. that's not to say it's all perfect, but it's far better than I ever expected it to be.Turns out wheat, and maybe other things, was really ramping up my inflammation level and I never would have discovered that without SBD.

Sorry that got so long, guess I got carried away

So what's your unexpected bonus?

My blood sugar is less than 100! And down a point from last year's physical!!!

I also have a TON more energy than in the past.

Lastly, I find it easier (gasp) to get up in the morning. I don't know if that's due to the diet or just me getting older.

My cholesterol has gone down from 214 in January to 184 last June. It's been stuck over 200 for a couple years now so I know SBD is responsible for the decrease. I also have less heartburn (I've been on Prevacid for years but still got nightly heartburn) and less achiness in shoulders and wrists.
