We talked last night about going to Bed, Bath & Beyond and Michael's this morning, then decided NOT. I'd rather stay home and enjoy my coffee and get the Christmas decorating started.
We had a very pleasant day yesterday, and I stayed pretty much on plan. There's lots of leftovers, though, so I know what we'll be eating the next few days!
Good morning cottage,Glad that yesterday was good for you and there is nothing better than leftovers. Looked through the ads and didn't see anything out there that we needed so bad to fight the crowds..I got up and did the doggy walk and now I have time to join in here.
We went to mom and dads for dinner and left ALL the leftovers there. That was my plan not my kids'. The kids now want me to cook a turkey for leftovers here. I can do that!!! Not much planned for the weekend. Would like to start decorating for Christmas BUUUUUTTTT the kids need to pick up the living room and their bedrooms before we start and I don't think they are to excited about that. Last year I told them I don't start shopping until the tree is up to get them moving(wonder if they will have to be reminded again)
For all those to come happy day and for those shopping I hope you find all you are going for.
Good morning Chicks We are getting ready for the big book sale in town. It starts at 9 and I like to get there early. Other than that it's just a normal day around here.
Cottage - Sounds like the perfect post holiday day
Phxsunflower - Have a fun decorating day with the kids.
We're off to buy books Then it's groceries, cat food and home for all the usual weekend excitement. Have a good day Chicks
Good Morning After. I hope you are proud of yourself if you stayed on plan and forgiving of yourself if you fell off. I joined in your celebration by having a store-bought BBQ chicken breast last night - not the same as turkey and dressing but.....
Right now I have three dogs since Bailey Pyper just got dropped off. Her parents are on the way to the States to shop. The Hyper Pypers are nuts! They plan to hit the Carousel Mall in Syracuse but I bet the I-81 (?) will be in complete gridlock by the time they get there in 2½ hours. They'll be back Sunday afternoon. Yes, they know it's Black Friday.
The three dogs together are too funny - 60 pounds, 20 pounds and 5 pounds in black, white and black. I'll try for a picture later, not that I expect them to line up in order. Right now they are exploring the dog yard and Disney is showing Bailey the special places behind the cedar hedge.
Lots to do today besides dog adoration. I still have costumes to iron and also have yet another funeral after lunch. (I think that's 11 this year!) I have to be at rehearsal for 6 PM to pull the Pageant together. The Music Director is giving the actors grief and I will get that straightened out darn quickly. She will learn about the Wrath of Ruth if she doesn't back off.
Barking at the door so I'm off to get another coffee, do some petting and then crank up the day.
Morning all! Hope everyone has a relaxing day or a busy day depending on your plans!!
I went way off plan yesterday...not portion wise, but food wise. But Thanksgiving and Christmas are my planned "off" days, so I'm very ok with it.
After painting, I got all dolled up and we headed out to see if we could find anything opened and knew we wouldn't find anything great without reservations, but low and behold, the first place we checked, which is one of our favorite restaurants, they had a precious little table for two opened upstairs. What luck!! So we got to sit up near oak tree branches next to prismy windows and had a fantastic romantic meal.
We split an order of crab cakes, then had a salad, then my husband got a traditional Turkey dinner, and I got salmon. It was on a small bed of orzo and spinach and was killer. Then I got really bad and got dessert! It was small, but rich...Bananna's Foster bread pudding. I also had a piece of French Bread and butter earlier with the meal. I was bad and enjoyed every bite!
Then of course a couple of hours later I was starving to death when all that sugar and white flour did it's number. I knew it was going to happen, but was worth it....so I ate a bowl of pumpkin seed cereal and tried not to think about it. Of course I'm back to being good today and will be until Christmas! Off to the gym now to work off some of that "bad" stuff I indulged on yesterday, then back here for more painting. oh boy.

Wow, I guess many are out shopping! Not me, I am "working" on this Black Friday. I checked the ads, nothing I needed bad enough to fight the crowds this morning.
Yesterday was a complete carb fest at the in-laws, not one veggie! Oh well back to it today. Didn't even get sent home with any leftover turkey so I may end up buying one and cooking it myself.
I did manage to get my tree up lastnight. Now I need to get up the rest of the decorations and DH needs to do the outside. It is supposed to be 50 the next 2 days so he shouldn't complain too much!
Hoping for a short day at work today. Hope you all have a great day!
Morning Chickies! Just sitting here waiting on Mom enjoying my
I have already been to Walmart this morning and the two things I wanted weren't there- that happens to me every year- why do I keep trying?!? Oh well, I was looking for a bluray player and a crock pot. They had a crock pot brand slow cooker for 15 bucks, but there were none... and a samsung player for 199, hmmm none again. what do ya know?! Just my luck! Well, hopefully I will find some other bargains today just by chance! Those were the only "sales" I was actually looking for so the rest of the day will be leisurely shopping and people watching with my mom... and probably a nice lunch! Back on plan today!
Cottage and Phx- Enjoy your decorating today!
Cyndi- ENjoy the bookstore!
Ruth has wrath? lol... have fun and get everything straightened out for those poor kids!
Cat- your dinner sounds lovely- that restaurant looks so nice, we don't have many little places like that... mostly chains...
Kik- & pacer- we were posting at the same time! Hope you have a lovely day!
Hey everyone! Quick run-in again! We're getting breakfast ready and then will be rushing out the door to go to the Dublin Dr. Pepper bottling plant! I can't wait; it's like the mother ship is calling us home!
I'll explain that later! Have a great day everyone!
Hi chicks, I am waiting for DD to eat breakfast then we are going to go furniture shopping and stop by the Pa Dutch Market. My niece and nephew got dropped off this morning and will be spending the weekend with us. Surprisingly, all the kids are interested in going shopping with us, although I gave them the option of staying here.
DH picked out a sofa he likes and although it's not exactly what I would pick, it's not bad. Since he hardly ever makes the effort to express an opinion on these things (until AFTER I've already bought something), I feel like I should let him take the lead on this one. I'm just glad to get a new couch, any new couch will do.
We had a nice low-key Turkey day dinner at my mom's last night, 15 of us. Since my SIL and niece and nephew-in-law have been on WW and on a health kick the last few years, and I am SBing, our family dinners have gotten much healthier. Aside from the beast, we had brussels sprouts, greens, sweet potatoes with cardamom, bulgar pilaf, NSA cranberry sauce, sauerkraut, gravy, and of course bread dressing, mashed potatoes, and rolls, which I avoided. We did have lots of pies, and since I made most of them, they were low-sugar, although not sugar-free. I had a small piece of pumpkin without the crust. So I'm pretty happy with myself. It's so nice to come home not feeling ill, like I always used to!
I've got a hair appt this afternoon, but I don't know if I'm feeling it, may cancel. And I'm working today, so I'll need to get my hours in somewhere. Pizza night at Grandma's tonight, so no cooking, hooray!
Oh boy. I think I have a busy schedule today. I want to go to the gym, get a remote start for my new car, get my hair trimmed, and plan menus for the coming week. Why I say I "think" I have a busy day........as of 9:30 here I am still laying in bed.
Sounds like everyone had lots of willpower yesterday.
Cottage - nice to be putting up christmas decorations. I am not that organized. Our street is all lit up but not us. We usually put the lights on about a week before Christmas but keep them on till Feb. 1, DHs birthday. They are all white so that's o.k.
Ruth - you go girl. Show that music director who is boss.
Phxsunflower - enjoy your turkey allover again.
Cyndi - a book sale - money well spent.
Cat - you have the most wonderful restaurants your way. I have been that way several times and have always enjoyed it.
Stephanie - hope work isn't too busy.
Kiko - Happy Birthday to your little girl. 7 is such a sweet age.
Rikki - you will find a bargain soon.
Kim - just drink the sugar free Dr. Pepper.
Schmoodles - I totally am with you. Everytime I point out something that I would like for our renovations in the kitchen. DH says its lovely. I have yet to hear him say something negative.
Everyone else to follow have a good day
Me - just getting things ready for my DD package which will have to go out soon.
Brian wanted to head to Walmart as soon as I was ready but it had still been picked over pretty well. He had gift cards from selling popcorn plus lots of allowance money so he now has two remote controlled flying planes, a Nintendo DS game (one sale), and Zoo Tycoon with all the expansion packs for our home laptop. I have NO idea what I'm going to get him for Christmas.
It's raining all day today so I think the yard art is going to have to wait. The tree needs to be decorated and I'm going to try one more time to convince Brian to visit his Dad this afternoon.
I think this might be a good day for turkey salad sandwiches for lunch. I'm out of bread though.
Afternoon, girls. Quick check-in for me as I've been up since 3 and cooking since 9.
BF sales went well...nothing big happened and I got pretty much everything I wanted to get. There are a few stores that are having big sales tomorrow as well that DH wants to go to. We had talked about going later this afternoon, but I think we'll just wait until tomorrow.
Turducken is almost done - Turkey needs to re-heated and all the side dishes are finished and loaded in the car.
Did everyone go shopping? It's just too darned quiet in here.
We went to the book sale and found a couple of gifts and a couple of things we wanted. They have uncorrected proofs there which makes a cheap way to check out a new author.
Seems like we mainly just relaxed all day though. I got grocery shopping and exercising done, but not much else.
Cat - You have the best planned off plan meals I've ever heard of I think that's the way to do it - no point wasting it on mediocre food!
Kiko - How's the party going??
Hope all you shoppers had a successful day and everyone else fit some relaxation time in
