Hello!

  • Hi, I am 29 years old, (soon to be 30 next month), married with two wonderful children, and I want to lose 40 lbs. I was supposed to be at my goal weight before my 30th birthday but some health issues knocked me off track last year and actually caused me to gain 15-20 more pounds. I was around 155-160 at the beginning of last year and today I weighed 174.4. I've lost a little already, I was close to 177 a week and a half ago. I've never been this heavy before except for when I was pregnant and I'm ready for the weight to come off for good. I thought I was fat when I was 155, I would love to be there right now. My goal is 135 hopefully by June 2009. I don't want to set an unrealistic time because I tend to lose weight slow even when I'm working my butt off. I am counting calories now, though, so I hope that helps. My problem has always been Sundays (sometimes Saturdays or weekdays too)when my husband, children, and I are out of town and we eat too much at restaurants (normally chinese or indian buffets) or my parents house. I am proud of myself though because yesterday I only ate three (small) cookies out of my parents stash and took a couple drinks of pop when normally I will eat several cookies and give in and drink a whole pop, kept my calories for the whole day around 1500
Anyway, I'm hoping that joining this forum will help me stay focused and motivated.
Sorry for the long winded post

  • You can do it! I'm glad you found our online family! You'll love it here!

  • Hey there, Ruth. Welcome to 3FC! Oh I feel your pain on the Indian food. I can't believe I lived 39 years before I discovered it.

Good luck on your plan - it sounds like you have very reasonable goals.
  • Thanks for the welcome!
We discovered indian food a couple years ago and we just fell in love with it, even my kids love it. We haven't ate it for probably a couple of months because I've been trying to reduce the buffets. I tell my husband, "We cant eat buffets every week and lose weight!"
  • Hi Ruth and welcome to 3FC! sounds like you know what your doing and your off to a good start. Just keep up the good work and you'll be at goal before you know it.
  • I lived in India for a while and fell in love with the food and the people. Hopefully, I will be returning long-term soon. I cannot do the buffets however unless I stick with the rice and the tandoori chicken.

I just posted this on another thread but I LOVE the Ethnic Gourmet Indian Entrees. They are usually in the organic frozen section of the market. Amy's makes some too that are pretty good. It gives me a little taste of the Indian without blowing my calories for the day.
