Default new cookbook: Great Chefs Cook Vegan

This just came out last month, I believe. I just received my copy - does anyone else have it?

The recipes in the book were contributed by famous chefs like Todd English, Daniel Boulud, Charlie Trotter, and more. I wasn't sure what to expect, since I ordered it from Amazon instead of locally. The book is filled with beautiful photos of very elegant dishes. Most include ingredient lists a page long, and are not for anyone who doesn't like to spend time in the kitchen

Do you ever watch Iron Chef America? They are given a 'mystery ingredient' and come up with unique ways to prepare it, and the dishes are always amazing and beautiful. When I read some of the recipes in this book, and browse the photos, I almost feel like many were given an Iron Chef challenge to create an elegant vegan dish. Not all of the photos are mouthwatering, though. While every one is elegant and impressive, many of the foods are very pale. Lots of pink and white food Also, while every recipe appears restaurant worthy, not all can be made by the average home cook. One recipe actually required the use of a cotton candy machine!

What? Are you saying you don't have one? My kitchen wishlist would include a soft ice cream maker like they have at "Kitchen Stadium." What comes out of that machine given what they throw into it is pretty amazing.

I quit taking Cooking Light because they had so many ingredients I couldn't find or were too expensive (e.g., saffron threads, garam masala) or the recipe just took too long to make, although I liked their 20 min. meals. I like the idea of the kind of cookbook you're describing (especially the photos), but I'm sure I'd never even attempt a recipe. I'll just keep on watching Iron Chef and marvel at their abilities.
