I'll be out of town at my son's with my 19 month of grandson. I know they will have candy around. I'll have to dig deep to not eat too much. I can't wait to see my GS!
Usually, when we pass out candy at home, I buy it the on Halloween, give the last child all the left overs, buy something I don't really like (candy corn), or give out stickers.
we are lucky enought to live on a dirt road that no one comes down trick or treating so we dont have to buy candy .. (sucks not to get to see the kids dressed up though )
we'll be at a harvest party with lots of junk around. i'm not worried because the last time i gave in and ate a ton of junk, i thought i was going to be seriously ill. it was bad. i think the fear is enough to keep me on a reasonable track.
We usually buy candy only for the kids in our apartment building, because we don't get many trick or treaters. We make up little bags, and buy just enough for the kids (usually a full size candybar, a cute trick or treat bag, and some little toy and a dollar), and take them to the apartments. For the odd trick or treater, we give a handful of nickels or dimes. It's funny to hear them exclaim excitedly to their parents that they got MONEY!
This year we don't have any kids in the building. So, for us, it will be easy.
I don't have children of my own, so it's not a problem. We may be going to a party, but I'll just factor that in to the day.
I'm not big on candy, but we have had a lot of it at work. I've had a hershey kiss or two, but since I can just have one, it's not a problem. Like I said, I'm not a candy person. Baked goods are a different story...
We bought mini bags of pretzels for the trick or treaters this year. I'm not sure if we'll get any (or even be home) so I wanted something that wouldn't go to waste. The bags are only 50 cals each and can easily be thrown in lunches if we don't give them out.
My neighbourhood is full of trick-or-treaters, so I think I'll spend the evening with my aunt in her kid-less neighbourhood. Thank GOD it's on a Friday!
I usually get around 200-300 kids (I think they ship them into my development) so I will get a couple large bags of candy when I run errands this afternoon. I love seeing the kids dressed up!! Luckily I am not a sweet eater so getting through Halloween will be fairly easy for me...it amazes my girlfriends with a sweet tooth that I usually end up throwing candy away when its given to me as a gift....one of my girlfriends actually cried when I told her I had to trash a box of Godiva chocolates....LOL
