candy. mounds and mounds of candy. tonnes of it. and every single piece screaming your name. It scares the **** out of me!!!
I don't have kids that are out collecting 10lbs a piece to bring home, but there will be a bowl by the door that may or may not get emptied before the end of the night -- then what?
I was just thinking this because I'm planning out my next few weeks and realized that if I intend to lose 5 lbs before Halloween, it would really be kick in the face to gain it back the weekend right after.
For the first time in my life I will be getting trick or treaters. This is my first year not living in an apartment!
I have no idea.... do I buy just 1 bag? I live in a small complex of town homes... I think that'll be enough. I plan on going out that night to.... when do they start and stop coming? lol I have no idea!!!!
Candy you don't like is a great decision. And when it starts getting darker out and the trick or treaters are slowing down, give them huge generous handfuls so you don't end up with any leftover candy!
I bought chips this year (which we usually do) as I'm pretty good at avoiding the chips in the house and even if I do decide to keep a few they're 1/2 oz packages so I can work one in easily. However, the next day I give them to the woman across the street and she uses them for her grandkids lunches (long story but her son and his two children are living there at the moment).
we bought snack packs of goldfish crackers. Whatever is left we probably will eat but at least it's not nearly as bad as chocolate and caramel and whatever else.
were pretty lucky we live on a main road with no kids around so we wont be getting trick or treaters....
the only thing I have to worry about is if i meet my halloween target or not!....
I LOVE HALLOWEEN!! Lol now that I've said that, I agree that buying candy you don't like/giving out generous amounts/buying a "healthier" alternative to candy/etc are all great suggestions to make sure that you don't end up with tons of leftover candy. I can kind of relate, heh, because my mom always sends me a Halloween care package around this time of year, filled with TONS of my favorite candy/goodies (last year this included an entire package of orange creme Oreos... Oh dear...) Of course I am totally grateful to her for thinking of me, and it really brightens my day, but I'm curious to see how it will work out this year. She knows that I have been trying to lose weight, so I asked for healthier stuff this year (though I felt a little bad, because beggars can't be choosers!)... Though I can't be sure that she'll comply. She's made lots of efforts to sabotage me, and I honestly don't know how I'd deal with it if she sent a big package of candy and junk. It's HALLOWEEN, my favorite holiday! I'd probably be able to justify a little indulgence, but then what would I do with the rest of it? I wouldn't want it to be in my dorm, tempting me (heh) but I would never be able to throw it away--that's just something I'll never be able to do; it's not a "fat chick" thing so much as a distaste for wastefulness. But yeah, I don't know what I'll do! I guess I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it...
I'm planning on eating a bit of candy. I wont just starve myself from it because ill know ill binge at the whole stash! so yeah that night i will allow myself to slip for a bit.
Usually we get the cheap, mixed candy bags (the ones that have the yellow wrapper buttery flavored candy, strawberry hard candy, caramels, etc). I don't care for those candies very much... and luckily for me I don't like sweets that much, either. I'm more a salty, savory kinda person.
I like mandalinn's suggestion of small toys. It's different and the kids will probably love it.
yeah, do what my grandmother does and buy those really sick sticky peanut butter goo candies that no one really wants to eat. then you won't have to worry about eating them. :]
