Hello...
i started a diet on monday, kind of like a weight watchers method as far as calories go... Im done eight pounds since last month when i weighed myself, so i was thoroughly jazzed about that...
i was wondering what you should do when you get hungry, do you have any tips
i want to loose about a 75 pounds or more if possible in nine months for a trip to hawaii, and any tips would be greatly appreciated.
im 5'5" about 230lbs, if that helps... but i have giant boobs and i think thats where i carry a most of my weight, that and on my back, which if anyone knows an excercise to tone that area, i'd love to hear em...
Losing fat (through calorie restriction and exercise) will help you lose fat all over your body...nothing you do for a specific area is going to shrink the fat on that area. We lose in whatever order our body wants us to...
I try NOT to get hungry, by watching to make sure I'm:
1. Getting enough water
2. Eating plenty of protein
3. Eating plenty of fiber (veggies, fruits, whole grains...)
4. Focus on getting foods with PLENTY of volume for the categories (like popcorn!)
5. Limit refined carbs. White flour, sugar, etc. really trigger additional hunger for me.
If I do those things, I find I'm NOT really hungry very often. And if I genuinely get hungry, I eat a small, protein-filled snack. If I am eating well and get genuinely hungry, I assume my body knows what it is talking about and give it some fuel.
Well, first you need to ask yourself if there is a reason why you are hungry. Have you eaten enough that morning for breakfast, or are you just hungry because you are used to eating more? It can vary a bit.
As far as what to do if you are just hungry and you are on track with your eating, drink water. Water is awesome in so many ways, one is keeping your stomach feeling full. Another thing to try is popping a mint or gum or brushing your teeth. When you have fresh breath, you probably don't want to go spoiling it with food.
I agree with mandalinn on her list of 5, I would also add to eat frequently, I try and not have more than a 3 to 4 hour gap (keeping it closer to 3) between eating, I find that I am rarely hungry at all if ever since starting losing in Jan of this year and I am down 160 pounds so far in that same 9.5 months. I also rely on Green tea and it has an appetite suppressing affect as well as boosting metabolism.
My wife is your height and started off at 236 pounds in Jan and is down 62 pounds in that same time following the same type of plan that I am so I think your time line to lose 75 could work out for you if not the whole 75 at least VERY close. wify did it with minimal to zero exercise I say minimal only because she did yoga for a month in there at one point, otherwise it was done with diet only.
Good luck with the goal, but remember you can control your behaviors directly, but not really the scale. Your body will respond to your behaviors in its own time and own way. And you can't spot reduce, but as you lose fat, your body will get smaller all over.
Make sure you are eating enough. Adequate nutrition is vital for weight loss.
Can you post a typical day's menu?

Reason: typo
Congrats on the 8lbs!!! The things that help me is to always have water at hand, and to eat small meals all the time. I eat 1st thing in the morning and between breakfast and lunch I have a snack. But once your body gets used to not being fed when ever it feels like it those "hungry" feelings go away. I know when I am truely hungry now unlike before where I just wanted to eat just for the sake of eating.
Please understand I just started my weight loss/get healthy journey last week, so I am no expert by any means!
Having said that: what I am trying is, if I know I have eaten enough and am just feeling hungry out of habit I am doing 3 sets each of push ups and squats. Then I try to just drink water or tea until my next meal time. I am finding that doing this refocuses me on my goal of getting fit.
If I am truly hungry because I ate too little at the last meal I will eat some lean protien or fruit. I am eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day to try to avoid hunger to begin with. Hope that helps.

remeber also...when you workout...you are using more Energy-incresing your metabolism and burning fat...that's why you are going to feel hungry more often!

I hate these type of diets because it always make me so hungry too. But the best advice I can give is you is make sure you are drinking plenty of water because alot of the time when you are feeling hungry its not hunger its actually down to you being thirsty.
There are all sorts of "Zero points" WW soups on the market as well as delicious homemade versions. I make a mean summer squash/zucchini/tomato/onion soup/stir-fry that fills me up, zero points, delicious and nutritious. We are still picking cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden, and a very filling treat is a big bowl of fresh sliced cucumbers, tomatoes and onion with some diet French dressing, red wine vinegar, salt & pepper. SO good and stays with you for a long time.
