OK, Chickies and Roosters here's the results thread. Sorry I didn't get it up earlier but it's been one busy day. I'm hoping to get my 5k in on Sunday. Hoping to hear lots of great stories and see a few pictures as well.
Angie and I got out early this morning for our quick....for us with the dogs....5K. We did it in 44 minutes which meant only 1 bunny chase! Had coffee after as usual. It was a very cool start to the day, I had a long sleeve shirt and my warm-ups on, Angie had a sweatshirt....fall is coming to southern California too It is 70 outside now so I am back in shorts
Garry, the pictures are great. What majestic palm trees! I've never seen a palm tree growing. What kind of palms are they? I'm in a wild land compared to California and the trees don't grow as tall because of the cold climate in the winter. Looks like you and Angie had a good walk with the mutts.
OK, everyone don't forget your pictures and if you can't take pictures we want detail, lots of detail about your 5k.
Did my 5k today. Lots of hills on this route. I did it in 45 min. I took a picture but it is really bad so I don't think I'm going to post it. I'll try again next time.
OK--did my run today but ran (slow run/walk combo) over 5K according to MapMyRun--I need a more accurate way to map my distance! Anyway, this one was outside--my official one will be on the treadmill which I will do tomorrow or Monday. I ran about 4 miles for about 58 minutes. My official one tomorrow I hope to beat my 40 min,30 sec. time on the TM.
I am fairly new to this "running" thing, so I am up for any more 5K challenges you throw at us. I need the incentive, and the practice.
Will check in tomorrow. Didn't know I was supposed to take pics but will take them tomorrow of the neighborhood I ran in today!
PS--I notice a little soreness in my back after I run--not sure if this is because of my posture, or just new to this, or b/c I ran outside on asphalt and sidewalks?
I did my 5K yesterday, which was a good thing as it snowed today. By the time we got done Jet was lagging behind with his tongue hanging out. I didn't keep my time but I figure it was less than an hour but not by much. I've given up running. My body just doesn't like it. I've been running a mile and a half with Jet a couple times a week and I'm always cussing him because he stops to sniff or whatever every five feet. I have to stand there and keep my muscles warm by stretching and stuff while he does his thing. Then we take off again. I kept telling him I would go faster without him. A few nights ago I thought I'd go solo. It didn't even take me half a mile to realize I needed those stops every five feet because my body just couldn't take the constant pounding. Then I realized that I go went faster when I walk. So no more running. Somehow I'm not sad.
I'm having a hard time getting my 5k done today. People are coming and going and leaving me alone with mom. I did get my 5k done on my exercise bike but I'm still going to do a 5k jog even if I have to do it at midnight! We had a big Thanksgiving dinner with the family and then we had 2 lots of visitors come, DH was off on a bus job half the day, DS#2 and GF spent time at her house after eating dinner at ours and DS#1 and DIL told me to get a treadmill. Ha, ha. What a busy, happy day but I will get in that run and post pictures as well because I did start earlier and DIL took a few pictures as I was jogging past her chair.
Great picture Lori. You look wonderful.
Thanks for the extra palm tree picture, Gary.
Mindy, I'll bet those pictures aren't half as bad as you think. Great time for a hilly route.
Modcat, you don't have to take pictures but it's so interesting to see everyone's victorious accomplishments.
Writermom, I don't jog outside anymore either but I can do it inside without too much trouble. My knees start to ache about 3/4 of the way through the 5k.
Must go finish my 5k before it's tomorrow. Then I'll post pictures.
I did my 5K yesterday in six inches of snow with the wind blowing. I did it in about 50 min. I haven't walked that far in a long time so I felt pretty good about it. I took my poor little dog Sassy and she made it the whole way too (although she completely crashed when we got home).
