Question Exercising on the second floor!

Hi. I would like to get an exercise tape for toning my muscles. The only problem is that I live on the second floor of my apartment building and don't want to be jumping around and disturbing the neighbor beneath me. Can anyone recommend a good toning exercise dvd that won't have me jumping around? Thank you to anyone who answers!

Pilates and yoga (and, I believe, tae bo) are good toning exercises without jumping

You can also do squats, lunges, push ups, crunches, sit ups, stretches, etc.

I live on the second floor and haven't had any problems with exercising. Good luck!

Anything that builds muscle doesn't require jumping around. Cardio might require lots of bouncing and jumping, but muscle building doesn't.

Get a swiss ball and some weights or resistance bands. Squats, lunges, stepups, pushups, crunches (on and off the ball), any kind of weight lifting using barbells or milk jugs filled with water or sand. Or any kind of weight lifting type exercises using resistance bands.

Check out some of the exercises in Body for Life or New Rules of Lifting for Women. Most of them can be done at home w/out a gym and don't require any bouncing or jumping around.

I live on the second floor of my apartment building and I do cardio. I do hop around a bit, but keep it as light as possible. I also have aging hardwood floors haha so it makes a lot of squeaky sounds at times.

What I do to limit my noise pollution is:

- exercise on a yoga mat, I can do yoga, toning, or even cardio

- limit hops and marching points in my DVD with lighter movements, but with the same intensity. Meaning I tense up my legs and hop a little or I just march without letting my feet completely leave the ground...if that makes sense.

- I usually exercise between 11am and 1pm...that is a good time for me and my neighbors.

- Finally I figure it is only an hour and I don't do cardio every single day, so it isn't that much noise I don't think. I haven't gotten any complaints...

I have been thinking of putting a rug down, that will dampen things even more.

Resistance bands and the big exercise ball and the appropriate dvds to show you how to use them (if you don't already). I live on the second floor and this is what saves me in the winter when I don't feel like going anywhere.

I live in a newer apt building where you can hear everything and judging by how ungodly loud my upstairs neighbors are just walking around I don't want to subject my downstairs neighbors to that.
