So, I’m a chick from “Sunny”

(Ha! It rains more really.) South Florida. I was reading the “3 Fat Chicks on a Diet” book, and I loved the utterly frank and friendly mood of it, so I decided to check the website out. So far I like what I see, so I’m hoping I’ll be around more.
So, here’s the not-so-skinny on me. Though I’ve always been bigger than other girls my age, it wasn’t drastically so until puberty. I didn’t gain so fast, and that fooled me into not thinking too much of it. And I never really dieted before because I just believed none of them worked, so why bother?
I was recently (finally) officially diagnosed with PCOS, Insulin Resistance, and Pre-Diabetes. I am 29, and would like to try to have my own kid if it’s possible, but if not I am totally fine with adoption too. My husband was adopted, I was a foster kid for a few years, and several of our friends are adopted.
My endocrinologist put me on metaformin, and that supposedly really helps with both trying to lose weight and getting pregnant. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t make me sick! But, even so, many seem to say this will help a lot. I hope it does.
I was also recommended to do the South Beach Diet. Kinda funny, as I’m a 40 minute drive from South Beach itself!

But, I don’t mind saying the prospect of starting that first phase is damn intimidating!
I’m lucky in that my insurance pays for a gym membership. I sure pay enough for the insurance, so I’m glad it comes with some nifty stuff I can do. I’m currently trying Curves. We’ll see how that works out.
Well, If your interested, you should have a hint which sub-forums I plan on haunting now. (PCOS, South Beach, Exercise… and others, but right off the bat I have posts in mind for those ones). And, I plan on starting a journal here. It’s set up, there’s nothing there yet though. But feel free to make friends and keep an eye on me!
I guess you can tell I likes the smilies!
