Curbing my after-dinner-munchies enthusiasm - who's with me?
Evening snacks are evil!
At least when there's 300+ calories worth of them every evening.
Does it seem like you're munching seven different things between dinner and bed time? I do! Usually I manage to stay close to my calorie limits, but I do go over a bit too frequently for my tastes. And I've been catching myself saving up calories for these evening shenanigans, too. NOT GOOD.
So here's a neat little evening accountability thread for me and all you after dinner snackers who want to join in the fun. Here, you can commit to the screen things like
OK, so my dinner was quite heavy today, and I haven't worked out. So my snack for tonight will be a nice hot cup of tea and one serving of baby carrots.
Wow. You are good. I really need this thread. I am so far from baby carrots right now.....I do have a problem with snacking in the evening. Seems like I'm looking for that one thing that will hit the spot, but like you, I usually stay relatively close to my limit, except for that time of the month, like NOW, when I can't find the off switch.
Okay, I'm in.
My cutoff time will be 8:30
Don't know yet what my 1 snack will be, I'll figure it out
I will go to bed early and read, knit, or bead to keep busy, maybe even sleep!
I dont struggle with this too much, but I have in the past.
I dont eat past 8.
If I do snack, it's almost always almonds. Good for you and they feel like it's a naughty treat. I like laughing cow cheese with some ww ritz crackers. Rice cakes are tasty.
If I get into that "eat everything I touch" moods, I brush my teeth. Or take a melatonin and go to bed early.
This is a place i have a really hard time with, the late night snacking is my worst habit! I'm in!
cut off 8:30
my 1 snack... hmmm... well I think I will have a 60 calorie dark chocolate sugar free pudding.
I have been trying to watch myself on this one too. Around 9:00 PM I usually feel like I "deserve" oreo cookies. Have been trying to talk myself out of that. I like the almond idea -- will limit myself to a few and see how it goes.
Eating later and going to bed early have made a big difference for me. I didn't set out to do either for the purpose of curbing snacking. I eat late-ish (to me) because it takes that long to come home and cook. I go to bed early because I get up early.
I usually end up making a big bowl of air popped popcorn and a cup of tea. It's filling and keeps my hands busy without killing my calorie budget for the day .
Oh man, I totally have this problem! I have been trying to stick with an 8pm cut-off time for when the kitchen closes. After that I drink tea (with splenda and sometimes a splash of Lactaid). I drink lots and lots and lots of tea....
the evening and weekends are definately the hardest times to avoid snacking....
i just brush my teeth and occupy myself with something else....
or rather try to....
Sooo... yesterday evening went really well. I kept busy and ended up only drinking the tea because I didn't have *time* to eat the carrots. It's ridiculous how well accountability can work. Big difference to my usual snacking pattern at night: homemade frozen yogurt - then some dried fruit - then stealing some of husband's pistachios - then some frozen grapes - hey, can you get a glass of wine for me too? ... lalala...
Great to see so many determined chickies on this thread! See you tonight!
