Si i was wondering if anyone else in the US is having the issues we are having here in the Atlanta area. We are out of gas throught half of Atlanta. We've been having issues since Ike. Luckily, everytime i've needed gas, I've been able to find it without issues. But yesterday, several gas stations recieved a shipment and had lines of cars waiting to get gas. It was insane..it took me 20 extra minutes to get home because of all the traffic issues due to long lines at the gas stations. And we're paying ab out $4.19-$4.29 for gas. Ahhh supply and demand theory...its sucks LOL. They just lifted some restriction,s so they say we probably won't be having this issue in a week or so...but i think part of it is that everyone is freaking out and gasing up their car even if they don't need it. Oh well just wondering if anyone else is dealing with this issue?
On Fox last night, they said it was because the refineries were still offline. What were you guys paying before? We're still at $4.09-$4.19...but two weeks ago we were at $4.46! ><
Hi Gatorgal, I live in SC just on the other side of the Savannah River. We're running out as well. Luckily I'm ok for another week or so.
Altari, we were paying $5.25 at one point. Now it's dropped to about $3.89.
I see your Old Navy Sig. Do you find that there clothes run really small? Or am I just making execuses in my head?

I live in the NE part of the country and we're ok. I looked yesterday and gas was $3.55/gal. It had gone up last week (after Ike) to $3.61. Hopefully, things will be back to normal (whatever that is lol) soon!
Hey 36paws -- are those pics of your pets? They are waaaay toooo cute!! I want to hug them all!!!
Hi Gatorgal, I'm in Atlanta, too, and found the same thing yesterday - the drive home was terrible getting around the big lines spilling out onto the streets from the gas stations. I read somewhere that we have special blends of gas to reduce emissions that change with the seasons and that this crisis hit right as we were transitioning to fall formula so we are short and can't borrow from other places for that reason. That is probably the restriction that was lifted, the emissions limit is going to be raised temporarily to allow us to get other gas until we can get ours back on track.
I drive a Civic and have just at half a tank right now and I only drive 14 miles round trip to work each day - I'm not topping off to allow people who really need the gas to get it. I got into a debate with several of my coworkers yesterday who have been topping off every day just to let their cars sit and only drive a few miles a day... My thought is that I should wait until I'm lower to fill up since I don't have a real need yet.
Apparently there's gas in Lilburn. A friend of mine came over the other day and gave me a hard time about how he coudln't find an open gas station anywhere near my house. But he got home to Lilburn and had no problem
I think it's in pockets around the city. I did see an interview with one official who said that if people would quit freaking out about the situation and gas up their cars as they USUALLY do (i.e. waiting until the level of gas is at a 1/4 tank or lower) instead of filling up every time their gauge dipped, the problem wouldn't be as severe.
Oddly, the little hole in the wall station near my house in Acworth has had gas the entire time... Last night on the way home I passed six big stations that were out, three more with lines down the street. Then I got to the little station by my house and they had gas at every pump, only four cars there, no lines anywhere, several pumps with no one at them.
I still withstood the panic temptation to fill up... But I did call three of my friends several miles away who were low and gave them directions to this station.
i luckily filled up on sunday and still have a half a tank. My hubby's car needs gas but the truck is ok. They said the issue in atlanta is due to the epa regulations that we have versus other areas (due to our poolluition). I should be ok for a few more days.
shannon-im with you...they stated that a big part of the issues is people "freaking out" and filing up everytime they see gas not when they need it. Shannon..you're just up the road from me. Hopefully gas will get better soon.
