Hey Ashley!
As for your question, I don't really think of anything as "off limits" - if I want fries, I have a few fries. I take a "calorie counting" approach to my weight, with an emphasis on healthy whole foods.
HOWEVER - for health reasons, I do tend to pick and choose most of my calories from vegetables, whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat couscous, whole wheat pastas, etc), lean proteins (my favorites are chicken breast, turkey breast, pork tenderloin, extra lean ground beef, eggs, beans, and greek yogurt), fruits, and a limited amount of healthy fats. No one could argue that a diet with those components is an unhealthy one. BUT - I reserve a few hundred calories a day for things that may NOT fit into that healthy framework, and that works for me.
