Smile Hello, my name is Gretchen and I'm a foodaholic

Whats up?!??!?!?!?!?! Well, I'm new here and I just stumbled on this website! SO GLAD I DID! I can tell I'm going to love it!

So, a little about me..... I'm a respiratory therapist living in Florida. I have 3 boys (3,5,6yrs). I've been overweight since I was 13 yrs old. I started to become obese after college. I of course gained more weight with each child. Basically, I gained weight steadily over the last 10 yrs until I reached 338lbs!!! ahhhhhhhh!!!!! I went to my doctor for just a regular yearly checkup and my blood pressure was 188/121. My resting HR was 108 and I thought I was only around 290 lbs..... but I found out I was a whopping 338!!! WHAT?!?!?!!? I went back the next week for my blood results and the doctor told me that I was diabetic, I had high cholesterol and my triglycerides were more than double what they should be.

Needless to say, I GOT SCARED!! My life flashed before my eyes. I pictured my boys crying at my funeral. I went home and cried for about 5 hrs... then I decided to actually do something about it!

I have been eating healthy and exercising since Jan 8th 2008. I have a cheat day once a week. At first I lost the weight fast. Now it's coming off very slow. I sometimes get discouraged because it seems like I'll never reach my goal. But I know if I just keep doing what I'm doing I'll get there some day.

I am 260lbs today. My blood pressure is absolutely normal and I got off my BP medication a month ago! My resting HR is 65. My cholesterol went from 215 to 160. My good fats are up, my bad fats are down. My triglycerides went from 380 to 156!! I am no longer considered diabetic. My doctor actually deleted that diagnosis from my chart! I am happier than I have been since I was a teenager! I have energy and I feel so good! I can't wait to see how great I feel at 200lbs, 175lbs and my final goal.... 150lbs!!!

I have an identicle twin sister who is also obese. I am so happy to say that she has joined me and has lost almost 60 lbs! I am so proud of her! We are doing this together!

I am looking forward to making some new friends on this site. I know I will be on here daily! I hope to find some new ways of staying on track. Some different views and opinions on weight loss. Have a great day!

Hi Gretchen, welcome to 3FC! We're so glad you found us

Wow--what amazing progress you've made already! Yes, keep doing what you are doing, it is perfectly natural for weight loss to slow down after the first bit, but you WILL get there!

Welcome Gretchen!
You are doing so great already!.
Don't get discouraged if the numbers on the scale don't move as fast as you'd like. More importantly, you are making gigantic improvements in your health, I mean, you are no longer diabetic, your BP is normal and so your Cholesterol is way down. Way to go!!!!
