That being said, I am 50+ with a sloth-like metabolism.
And - I learned a TON in the process. I think that the pace was exactly right. It took a year for me to learn how to maintain and to change my lifestyle.
I started in January '07 and it has taken me this long to get 99 pounds gone. I had some setbacks where I gained a little back, usually around Christmas when there are so many sweets around, but no huge gain. I'm trying to keep weight loss steady, I've raised the intensity of my exercise because I'm trying to get another 50 pounds gone by the beginning of next Summer.
I started about 2 and a half months ago and I've lost 25 lbs. (I was shocked into the first jumpstart because I was diagnosed with diabetes..... and was scared to eat at all)
Now, I've settled into what appears will be a looooong plateau.
You've done great so far, Iconoclast. Keep it up and don't get discouraged. I didn't have 1 plateau since I've started last year...I've had several. I got through them and you will too!
omg everyone thats amazing.
Some slower than other but still lost tremendous amount of weight.
I just want to see the average of how much to loose certain amount of weight. i know people vary. but i hope to be as determined as everyone else!
It has taken me about 9 months to lose 62.5 lbs so far. I'm still going strong until I achieve a 25 inch waist (I'm at 27" now) and I'll begin maintaining at whatever weight that such a measurement leaves me at.
for me it has been very slow with plateaus (possibly the biggest motivation killer)...but there has been progress! apparently slow and steady really does win the race.
i've been averaging a pound a week or so...hoping to keep up the trend and bust through this current plateau!
