Default I lose 5 pounds at a time or nothing

I am not sure if I'm weird or what.

I will go for a week or two and lose nothing. Then I will start to feel my clothes getting bigger or just generally know that things are rearranging. Then BAM I lose 5 pounds. Then back to no weight loss for a while but continuing eating well and exercising.

I think in general I am losing weight at a steady pace. I have lost 40 pounds since the end of January. So about 6 pounds a month I have been losing.

Does anyone else experience this?

Yes. That's exactly how my loss went. Weeks with zero, then a big drop. I would rarely see a steady week-by-week drop. And sometimes I would go up one week even though I had been on plan.

It's just not a straight line!

Yeah during the zero weeks I try not to over analyze the situation. That is difficult for me being a programmer.

I just look at what I've been eating and if I've been on plan I try not to worry about it.

I have been pretty diligent about getting my exercise too.

I'm the same way. Except what used to be five-pound drops have turned into three-pound drops.

Yup. In fact I just won the recent 5# challenge by "losing" 5# in about 6 days. But prior to that, the scale stayed the same or went up even for about 3 weeks. So really ... I'm sure the *fat* loss was spread out over a period of time, but the scale just showed it all at once.

It's definitely frustrating ... but that's how most of my loss has come as well. Chunks here and chunks there. Very rarely the "slow and steady" that some lucky people experience!

.

Same thing happens to me. I am currently plotting the weight loss figures against minutes exercised, calories on target etc so I can see what the pattern is so I know what to expect. I have been working really hard for over a week, calories on target, exercising over an hour a day etc and NOTHING. It is frustrating but if I know I am due a drop in a few days I won't let it get to me.

That's good though...Right?
I do the same thing,I'll go 2 or 3 weeks...nothing or maybe even gain a lb or 2 then I'll lose 3 lbs. Mine's always 3 lbs except for once it was 2 lbs..There for a while I could just about bet on losing the 3rd week....like the first week,nothing,2nd week,nothing,3rd week...3 lbs...but here lately I've leveled out,I just look at it like losing a lb every week..LOL!

The entire second half of my weight loss, I would ONLY lose in the 3-5 days after my period ended. Every month, I'd maintain or fluctuate up a bit...then 3 days after the last day of my period, I'd drop a lb or two below whatever my lowest was before, and for two days after that, I'd lose a lb or two a day. The rest of the month...nothing.

As long as your overall trend is downward, just stick with it. Bodies are not machines and weight loss is seldom linear.

Thanks everyone. It's good to hear I'm not totally weird. Well I am but at least with regard to weight loss.

I should mention that I never gained a pound at a time either. It was 5 pounds there too or nothing.

Interesting on the menstrual thing too. I'm sort of peri-menopausal but it seems even if I don't get my TOM the cycle still holds. Lose weight around when TOM should happen.

I'm happy with the progress I have made really. I know 6 pounds a month isn't a bad rate. If it continues I should reach my goal in 8 - 10 months which would be fantastic. I know I might plateau or something and that time table could get pushed but I'm shooting for it.
