Question Feta Cheese

I've been hearing that feta cheese is better for you than any other cheese.

I haven't found any proof of this. Don't get me wrong, I love feta on my salad, but that's about it. What have you all found?

Yea, I've also heard it's one of the better cheeses for you. I never eat salad without feta! Thats one thing I refuse to give up, fattening or not.

I also heard that. I know the rule of thumb is that the softer the cheese is, the less fat it contains.

Feta cheese is softer than other cheese - so maybe it has something to do with the fat content thereof.

But aren't soft cheeses like camembert and brie more fat? Or do we just eat too much of it?

Yum, Feta! I'm with luvja; we're going to eat it no matter what. Even my toddler loves it. If you're not watching, she'll eat all the Feta off your plate! I'm making gyros today and Feta is a must with that!

you have a very good point, but I think it's the softer and younger the cheese, the healthier it is. So brie and camenbert are definitely aged longer.

The softer cheeses have less salt (generally) and less saturated fat and goat's cheese feta is probably the BEST feta you can eat apparently (due to the goat's milk being healthier than the cow's milk).

I know on WW I can eat WAY more cottage, mozz, and feta cheese for 1 point than I can other cheeses in any case.

Brie and Camembert are made with cream (double and triple amounts in some cases) so yes, they have more fat.

However, most other soft cheese are made with milk, not cream.

i have found on the many diets i have tried that they do allow more Feta cheese than other cheeses too. I am not sure about the age or softness but i do know that i no longer eat anything processed. Even cheese. So i eat more cheddar instead of processed cheese for my wraps and stuff. Cheese is a good source of protein so sprinkling some on whatever you would like is a good way to get in some protein.

I love feta I use it all the time. salads, eggs, main dishes, side dishes...

I found a 4 pound tub of it at BJS for 12 dollars (and i put it in a bag and break it up with my hands into tiny crumbles) it's 4g of fat per 30g serving.

I love feta on my salads too! I buy the reduced fat feta cheese by Athenos 70 calories 4.5 fat grams for 1/4 cup. I rarely use a whole 1/4 cup. I recommend it to anyone that loooooves feta
