Default This and That and Grateful Post

I talked with one of my Barix Clinic friends. LyricaDreamer had his surgery in December and has lost a total of 168 lbs so far. This guy is way over 6 ft. and was partial paralyzed due to an construction accident and was on a boat load of narcotics for back and leg pain. He contacted me and told me for the first time in six years, he is able to go to work. He has young children and wasn't able to do much with them. He struggles daily with making good food choices and is really addicted to soda. He told me he has to watch every bite he puts into his mouth. He is really, really grateful for WLS.

DH weighed in this morning is down to 173 lbs from 208. He new name is baggy pants. He is still an ice cream freak, but I have been making protein ice cream out of SF pudding, protein powder, fresh fruit and FF half and half, with a drizzle of SF Carmel Syrup. I'm crossing my fingers that he can stay steady with it because the cholestrol medicine makes him tired and he hasn't been able to tolerate the heat; and believe me this guy usually likes it HOT!

I feel like I've been eating too much, well constantly eating. But the scale has been steady at 165, and back to logging in all that I eat.

I've been so grateful for my WLS this week because of the heat. I could never tolerate hot heat and would be holed up in my little air-conditioned house. And would still sweat like a pig. Haven't even turned the air on yet.
Played badmitton this weekend, I stunk, got my feet tangled up, and laugh myself silly at how bad I am now. BUT, I could do it!!! I told my niece to push me out of the way, because I didn't want to lose to my baby bro and the next play she wacked me in the noggin with the wooden part of the paddle. OUCH!
I've canned bushels this summer, and hadn't been able to do that in years, because of my back and legs. I can bend over in the garden and pick stuff. I can lift the canner off the burner all by myself. I daily go up and down the basement steps even with baskets in an upright position. I can now climb a ladder and pick pears and peaches. I can actually do the trim with the walking lawn mower and haven't fallen in the yard once this summer. I can get in and out of my old low Buick without any effort at all. I can carry my little GD and she is a chunk. I can walk nine holes of golf without passing out. My brother called me "stick" arms this weekend. I smacked him in the head with one of my batwings. LOL! My DH told me that he tried to spoon me last night and my hipbone was too sharp!!! Some one said "Hey Skinny" to me this week!!! LOL!! Never ever been called that! Most of all I'm grateful because I'm ALIVE....You all have a nice day.

oh nancy - this is all sooo important!!! sometimes - as we go along - we can forget what our lives were like pre-surgery. and that's dangerous. i was bedridden. unable to walk more than a few feet.

and now i just GO!!!!!!!!! congratulations!!!! you have your life back! not everyone gets a second chance, so keep these memories alive - going back is NOT an option!!!!!

Nanj, hugs to you and DH. I always look to find your post to get my inspiration. You are mine for sure and helps me see that there is light at the end of the tunnel and the journey to just get approved by the insurance.

It's always so cool to read about success stories. Sometimes I forget and take my new life for granted. Thanks for the inspiration.
