Default The pizza is coming, the pizza is coming!!

Help! The hubby is out picking up pizza for him and his brother. There are many problems with this. The ofrst being the obviuos, I am trying to lose weight and pizza really isn't on my plan
But the next is the fact that I don't want to share my new healthy eating plan (or diet) with his brother. I dont want pthers to know and watch everything I eat. My husband knows and is supportive of me. I dont blame him for getting pizza. My brother in- law works out all the time is buff and also tries to be health conscious, in a way (meaning he sometimes says he wont eat something b/c it's bad for you but will turn around and eat a pizza (for instance ). Soooo, I am going to try with all my might to avoid the pizza without bringing too much attention to myself.
Wish me luck.

What do you do when people around you eat foods that are not on your plan and continuously ask you to induldge?

Good luck! You should do just fine!!!! If he asks why you aren't eating it, just say you already had plans for what to make for dinner and don't want it to go to waste... That's worked for me before.

While he's picking up the pizza make a huge salad for everyone. Throw in lots of healthy vegetables (whatever you have on hand) and drain & rinse a can of any kind of beans you have on hand and toss them on top. It's very "normal" to offer everyone a side salad with their pizza. Take a generous serving of salad, and one slice of pizza. Eat a lot of salad and either eat the pizza slowly, or just pick at it. This way you're not standing out as eating anything different than anyone else. The hard thing to do will be to not scarf down several slices. Just stay focused - take mini bites - put the slice down, chew chew chew. Eat a couple bites of salad. Focus on the conversation. Participate in the conversation. etc.

I always take meat off of pizza (I never eat meat on pizza) and I blot it with a paper napkin before eating. I tell people the grease bother me, which is 100% true. I've never been teased or had anyone think this is weird (at least not that I know of.)

I don't see a problem with having one slice, but I know it can be hard to stop at one. WebRover's idea about filling up on salad first is a great one!

Thanks guys, pizza problem averted!! I had a tiny slice and that was it. the good thig: they only brought home a medium b/c I had asked my husband earlier to help me with this journey. So there really wasn't enough for me to binge on anyways. I also did make a big salad as a side for us all
THX!!!!!

Just a thought here - eating pizza is not necessarily unhealthy if it's something that you plan for. Really, eating *anything* (ok, almost anything ) is not unhealthy if it's something you plan for. And even eating something unhealthy can be ok if it's a once in a while thing.

Don't judge your BIL for eating pizza once in a while. Maybe for him pizza is an acceptable item to eat, as long as he avoids other items.

I know for me, I am very open about the fact that I'm trying to eat healthy and lose weight. I don't hide it and I'm happy to discuss it with anyone. And yeah, I do get some people who ask me if I'm allowed to eat something or who look askance at me if I go out and order a hamburger or something ... but the fact is that *I* alone know what is on my plan and what I can or can't have. I know if I've saved my calories all week so that I can indulge in a yogurt shake from Steak & Shake. I know that I've chosen Saturday as my "non-counting" day and that I allow myself to have a treat, if it's not reasonable and binging.

I expect people to respect my choices and not judge me based on *their* interpretation of healthy eating.
