I managed a very slow 13.84 miles today so I think that counts for at least a couple of 5Ks. I forgot to grab my camera so no pictures. I lost my running partner right before the start due to some foot problems she's having so I'm proud of myself for getting out there anyway. I'm hoping to get in a family bike ride too before the weekend is over.

Editing to add (I really should wait to post after a run at least until after I shower) - I should probably add that I didn't just pick up and go nearly 14 miles out of nowhere - lol! I am training for a much longer race and am actually slightly behind on my training due to my dad passing away (too early at age 64) this month.

I also forgot to mention that towards the end of my run I saw a plastic tote bounce off the back of a pickup truck - I was on a trail that runs parallel to the road. As it turned out I think the Christmas tree in the tote wanted to do its own 5K! I stopped long enough to help them pick it up as it landed almost right beside me - not close enough to hit me though.

It was a beautiful day so there were a lot of people out walking, running, bicycling etc. and most were friendly as I passed. There was one really rude person hollering out the window from the backseat of a car though. I won't even repeat what was said, but why do people feel they have to do that? If I was just getting out there for the first time and was hesitant or nervous about it that would have really discouraged me. Fortunately that is not the case, but I did think about how many times I've seen people post about being hesitant to start with something like C25K and if the rude comment would have happened to them. I guess the point of all this is I think it's admirable when anyone gets out there and doesn't let people being stupid get in the way of meeting their goals!

Angie and I just got home from our 5K

It was WONDERFUL!

We didn't break any speed records ~ 55 minutes which included 2 poo stops and 2 pee stops for the mutts.

We did 3.2 miles on a new route. It is a new industrial area near us with nice landscaped streets with plenty of flat and hill areas for a good work-out. Traffic is light because of the week-end. We get coffee after the walk at a It's A Grind...which I like much better than Starbucks We have a gorgeous area to sit and drink our coffee in while Angie has a scone and the dogs get their water and treats for being good girls....they get them when they are bad too

The weather was almost picture perfect at 6:30 with just a touch of humidity in the air.

An absolute joy to be with my best girls after being out of town all week!

and THAT! is exactly why WE do these 5K's isn't it folks!

But anyways, I commited to doing this with y'all so I did. No pics, sorry.

I made a new friend at the GYM and she say's they are doing a Moonshine Run (5k) here on Oct 18th at the Cosby festival. I told her I am SOOOOOO there!

I did a walking 5K today, and finished in 60 mins. I plan on doing another one on Monday, with some running, so my time should be a bit better.

Hi! Between walking outside and the Gazelle I did 5.53 miles today! But after watching about a 350 pound bear watch me--- I think 99% of my walking will be inside from now on! They are preparing for Winter and I don't want them to think that Ginger, Sissy or me would be all that great to eat!!

Number 14 checking on time.

The Queston of my results post is....

How Blonde is She?!?

Allow me to answer that for you .

Well for months now, during part of my walks I pass an Ice Rink/Skateboard park ( seasonal ) and a lovely track n field sport center. I've been passing, looking, smiling and mentally checking off how far I've gone. It's my half-way mark for the 5K.

Well Thursday was no different then any other. I approach, glance, smile, check my time and am about to make my turn when a Thought pops in my head... "That's a track..."

As soon as I thought those 3 words it was like a Thunderbolt hit me and once again I felt blonder then blonde can be!

I did 13 laps in lane 5 cuz I had no idea which one to choose so I chose the middlest one. Nor did I know the exact distances of each lane. The only thing I did know was 4 laps equals a mile... I did 13 cuz I am pretty good at getting things wrong so I did the extra to make sure.. I know... I learned a lot since I got home! viva le internet!! Not even posting a time on that one.

Friday the official start of the 5k: I can walk a mile in 16 minutes. 5k in 48!

As I was cruising around the track Friday, gorgeous, orange, who knows what its made out of. It felt springy and its such a happy color. Everything is marked out so nice and neatly. I had quite a few urges... Serious urges to Run. Which brings me to Saturdays results.

Saturdays 5K:

I decided to walk the odd number laps and on the even numbered ones, I walked 3/4's of the way around. Saving the final straight away for a sprint. Shaving a whole minute off my mile time! ( Okies I am not a real fast runner. ) But I am now inspired to learn.

Official time: 45 minutes.

So when exactly is the next 5k? I got me some training to do.

Got up early Thursday morning and did it - went more than 5k though and did the whole 4 miles in 1:10 alternating walking and jogging!!!

Walked 100 steps, jogged 100. Then realized that was not happening and walked 100, jogged 50... and as I got more and more tired worked it out like:

100 walk 100 jog x1
100 walk 50 jog x5
150 walk 50 jog x5
200 walk 50 jog x5

Then I walked the rest of the way and then right at the end did:
25 walk 25 jog x5

Wanted to do it on Labor Day but I'll be riding out a hurricane so better to move it up But I forgot where the 5k mark was so I just did the 4 miles.

Red face #31 completes the 5K!

#31 checking in - did my 5K this morning - and managed to improve my time from 57 minutes to 56.48! AND, on top of that, even did some short jogs throughout the walk (real short - I jogged all of 50 to 100 feet at a time, but, I did it!). Not bad for a born-again couch 'tater!

Thanks for the challenge - I might even try it again tomorrow morning, just for laughs!
