Default HELP please!!

I am a little over 3 weeks post-op lap RNY. I am having some issues I think. This morning I was feeling very sick...like I was going to vomit even though I didnt eat anything yet. I was dry heeving (if that is how you spell it). I called my surgeon and he doesnt seem concerned with it, but I am!

Also, having a hard time drinking enough and taking in enough protein. I feel like I am forcing myself to eat and drink because I am not hungry or thirsty.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Cheryl

Default Calling Jiffypop!

Cheryl: As Jiffy would say, "Take a deep breath." Hon, you are where all of us were at, once upon a time. There is almost no way that you can really get in all of your protein and water in when you are a fresh post-op. I didn't really have an appetite for weeks, was nauseated and had the foamies. Just try and at least get the water in and take a lot of small sips, slowly all day long. Don't force yourself, just take it easy. You will be getting better very soon and slowly start picking up on your protein. Sometimes when you don't get in enough liquids you also can become nauseated. If doctor knows and is not worried, just keep at it a little at a time. A big hug to you. This too shall pass.

Ditto to everything Nancy said. The only time I questioned my surgery was 3 weeks out, sitting in my kitchen trying to get something down, feeling very sick, and thinking, "Oh my God, what have I done?" This will pass Cheryl. Hang in there.

wow!!! people listen!!!!

they're right, cheryl. we've all been there. just take it nice and slow, and remember on the bad days, that the water is the most important thing you can get in. sooo, if you focus on that during those times when absolutely nothing is working, you'll be OK [as long as this feeling doesn't last more than a day or so!]

one of the things i had to resort to was SPOONING my protein into my mouth. for several days - maybe even a couple of weeks - when things were tough, i couldn't simply DRINK anything - it had to get into my mouth on a spoon. see if that helps at all.

also, i had to stop blending the protein drinks with ice cubes into a thick frosty concoction. pouring it over ice was just fine, especially when spooned slowly into my mouth.

take it slow and easy - you'll get through this!! HONEST!!!!!
