Question Fit Day

Has anyone ever used fitday as an actual diet plan. They have a system that calculates the amount of calories that you need to be restricting in order to reach your goal.

Anyways, I was just curious if anyone has been successful with it. I am having a hard time getting all of the calories that it says I should be consuming. It told me I should be consuming around 1700 a day. That seems like a lot to me... is that normal?

I like the daily plate to track the calories I eat each day. It's free and very easy to use. heres a link:

FitDay (and most other online calculators) are notorious for overestimating the calories someone needs in a day, and overestimating what is burned through exercise.

You'll have to figure out, through trial and error, which calorie level works for your personal loss. I love Fitday, though, for tracking my calories...found it so much easier than any other solution I tried, and it's even better now that they updated it recently.

I've used DietPower in the past but don't have it on my new computer, so started using the new, improved Fitday this time.

Like you, it gave me 1700 calories, which seems phenomenal, I even had a Mars Bar today to use some up! - on the other hand, I've lost 12lbs in 3 and a half weeks. I know it's easier to lose quickly at the start but if the 1700 had been way over the top, I don't think I'd have got this far.

What I don't see in Fitday is that it increases or lowers the calories allowed, according to how much you've lost/still got to lose, sthg DP does. I can't see eating 1700 for the next year or so to lose it all!

Oh, it does, based on your weight entered. If you change your weight in the weight tool, it'll update your calories needed.

1700 calories a day isn't bad at all for someone over 200 pounds. Many in this weight range lose at that level. However, just take the calorie range that Fit Day gives you, and try it out. For some it's going to be perfect...and for others, they find that they must take it up or down a little bit. They are estimates, really, so you have to do SOME trial and error.

I've used it to keep track of my calorie intake and % fat, protein and carbs. When I'm very diligent about tracking my food intake and exercise levels I do better with losing weight.

It's just very annoying to log in all my foods. I eat primarily home cooked and a lot of Asian foods that aren't in the list of foods. I have to look up everything add it to my favorite foods.

Sarah, take a look at The Day Plate - website in post above - it has a much larger database and is a lot easier to use.

I'm 5'8" and over 200. The Flat Belly diet has me at 1500-1700 calories a day. I've lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks - very fast, but some of that was 1200 calorie jump-start days. They increase me to 1700-2000 calories when my exercising gets to 30 minutes 3-4 days a week.

1700 is a *diet* calorie count for someone your height and weight. Best thing to do to lose weight is make it all *good* foods. Research has shown that if you eat the same calories on junk food you can gain, while on solid food you lose.
