Hi everyone! I just wanted to know if any of you are in school? I am preparing to start taking my pre-req for the nursing program in Jan-09(god willing). I havent been in school in ten years and although I knows its never too late one cant help but wonder how it would be and so on. Between losing weight and getting my Degree in Nursing these are two goals I have to accomplish. Failure is not an option. Anyways if your in school what is your major if you dont mind sharing?
well I am 29...for another month or so, and I am going back to school myself! Ive been wanting to do it for years and finally got the motivation and determination to apply. I haven't been to school in ten years either, so i know how that goes!
So along with my weight loss which honestly comes as my first job, I will be studying art therapy.
Hey Matilda! I'm 21 and about to enter my senior year. . .I'm an information science major (kinda like computer science) with a double minor in business administration and leadership studies.
My motivation for losing weight is my last spring break ever. . .my friends and I are planning on going on a cruise so I want to look bangin in my bikini
I'm 20 and attending the University of Colorado. Going into my junior year, triple-majoring in Anthropology, Classics and Journalism. When it comes to my education, failure definitely isn't an option, like you said. But damn, dieting as a student is pretty difficult. The most successful I've been in losing weight as a student was during my freshman year, when I was so overwhelmed that I just wasn't eating. Most people gain 15 pounds their freshman year. I lost 35 (and I've gained it all back, and then some). The best advice I can give you is to only keep healthy food in the house. Yeah, it will take longer to prepare, but it will help. And always keep a couple healthy snacks in your backpack. I can't tell you how many times I ran out the door in the morning without eating, then went all day without eating because I was in class, and then stopped somewhere bad to grab some food to compensate. Keeping food with you helps. Good luck!!!

Reason: Forgot my age, apparently...
I'm 24 and I began an MA program for secondary education in Social Studies and, soon, ESL too, last Spring (so I just finished my first semester of the program). I'd taken two years off after I graduated from college and it did feel weird going back to school after that time. I also work fulltime now and live with my fiance, so it's considerably harder to get things done sometimes.
So I needed to get an "Incomplete" for one class because I simply couldn't finish all my work for it in time, etc etc. I actually have to get to writing that final paper so I can reregister! I'm SUCH a procrastinator!
I hear you! I know its going to be a little harder to keep up with my fitness but I am so determined to do it. I will be very busy and on top of that I am a mom. I am at the age where challenge is so thrilling to me......I have to push myself. I know that we can all live the life of our dreams we just have to work for it. Its good to hear from folks trying to further their education.......
I'm 24, I'd completed my degree in sociology 3 years ago. But I'm back and taking distance studies courses to complete a degree in pyschology for I can get into the specific masters program that inserests me. I've come to the conclusion that independant study is NOT for me. But just like I've commited to weightloss I'm committed to finishing this class. Then I'm signing up for evening classes, I think that will be more my style.
lunabella, leaderships studies sounds really interesting. What exactly is it? I'd love to know more!
I'm 24 still working on my Bachelors in business administration emphasis on marketing. I like the long winded ness of saying that for some reason. LOL! I went back to school two years ago. Like I went straight to college after high school, but then life happened and I had to take off for a while to find a full time job and buy a car and get an apartment, and then I finally went back to school. It was so hard at first; getting used to doing homework when I was sleepy and tired. I had never worked and been in school at that same time. At first, I was eating horribly! Pretty much rice crispy treats, and pop tarts because I could eat and drive with them at 6am. And then whatever I could grab in a drive through for dinner at 6pm. That's the year I put 30 lbs back on.
By the 3rd quarter (fall 2006) I got into a rhythm because I had a regular job. I had been doing full time temping most of the year. But this job was only 28 hours a week and I had Fridays off. I think it was important for me to get into a regular schedule. I started buying cereal and getting up early enough to eat it and prepare my lunch. I admit to dinner, even after all this time, still being an issue for me. I work 35 hours a week now and by the time I get home, I only have enough energy to maybe work out and do homework. Eating sometimes gets lost in the shuffle.
All in all, it's going to take some time to get used to it but stick in there. Good luck!
I am 20 years old, but I will be 21 in October. I attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I go back to school full time on August 19th. Next Tuesday! I am so excited because I love school and the atmosphere. I am going to be working out in the recreation center before and after classes when I have a long break. So even though I am going back to school, I won't be slacking on my exercises.
I am a Criminal Justice major with a concentration in computer forensics and a double minor in physiological development and communications.

I'm 19, and going in to my Sophomore year at the University of Alaska. Double majoring in Sociology and Psychology with minors in Communications and Disaster Relief.
I'm 21, going into my senior year, and studying history and religion. I too am concerned about keeping to a program of weight loss while in school. My advice is just to set aside an hour a day to take a break from any school work you have and take a walk or workout. Not only does it give you a chance to exercise, but it also helps clear the mind and keep focused on your work, which can often seem overwhelming.
hi
im 20 years old and about to start my third year. i'm a spanish major and im looking to take my PRAXIS in the fall so that i can apply to several school to get my Masters in the art of teaching (hopefully for secondary). I'm also minoring in leadership/american studies...between doing honors classes, holding a position in my sorority, and working...its hard to find time for the gym. but i keep motivated by remembering how great i feel after a work out, half the time my big sister has to drag me to the gym, but its totally worth it when im done.
I'm 25 and I went to college right after highschool but had some personal issues and had to stop. I decided to go back to school last fall and get my bachelor's in sports and entertainment management
my program is a full time year round program and i will graduate in august but classes will be done in may.
although i love my degree program and i love to learn it is very difficult to balance work, school, weight loss, sorority stuff and life but i know it will all be worth it. make a list of goals and things u need to accomplish every day that helps me.
I'm 21 and going into my Junior/Senior year. (I'm one credit away from senior status ><). I'm double majoring in Spanish and English. After I graduate I'm planning on getting a Masters in Library and Information Sciences. Yea. I'm going to be a Librarian. How exciting right? :P Anywho, I've been having the hardest time figuring out school and working out. It's awesome to know there's a bunch of people on here that are dealing with the same stuff. Also, woo on the double majors people :P I tell people around here I"m doing that and they look at me like I'm insane. Which I could be. Who knows?
