Default New kid angry journalist seeks smaller bum.

Hi Guys,

My name is Paula and I am rocking it out on Weight Watchers. I would be anxious to hear what everyone else is doing. I am going on my second week and down around 10 pounds. (God, I love the dancing carrot ) Looking at another 130 to go. I am doing it on my own due to the fact that my personality usually clashes with the people running the show. I am very sarcastic and my humor usually flies well over the radar for those optimistic happy-happy types. People on this site seem a bit more realistic, non competitive and genuinely supportive. I started a blog, The Life and Times of a Fat Girl, which to my surprise people are finding really amusing. I keep getting all of these really great messages through the comment section.

I still need to figure out a way to not jump on the scale every time I am naked though... anyone know any ways of finding the will power to avoid that?

Hey Paula!

Have you seen our Weight Watchers forum? We have a great, active group there - check it out!

You might also like the 100 lb club (a group of folks who are on their way to losing or have lost 100 lbs or more). it's a wonderful, supportive community.

Can't wait to get to know you better! Stick around and keep posting.

Oh, and on the scale? Still do it. Ah well.

Love your blog!! You are extremely entertaining/amusing!! Have you checked out any of the WW recipes off their website yet? I use a lot of them myself -- everyone here likes them and I usually don't tell them they are "diet".

I was upset at first about the extra money I spent on groceries -- but when it gets down to it -- I really don't -- the "good" food I buy now lasts me the whole week -- where the junk food before I would go thru in two or three days. And, the money I save on take out/junk food is much less than the $40 a month I spend on WW.

Good luck -- you are off to a great start.

Paula,

I, like you, find it easier to do on my own. I am a lot harder on myself than I need anyone else to be. I just posted some pics on the mini goal photo page. I have lost a little more than 30 pounds since April 7, 2008, and have cheated several times and don't feel a bit bad or guilty about it. I never thought I would lose this much weight in the first place. I really never thought I would have the willpower to do it. So I changed my goal to about 138 instead of 145. I had a baby a little more than a year ago, June 25, 2007. My weight-loss journey started out for him and now has become a little more of a selfish-vain thing. Can't wait to see more of your refreshing posts, Paula!

SHE IS LIKE AIR NOW! lol... congrats on the success. I wish I had one of those community gardens in my neighborhood. I love me some veggies.

Lol, Thank you!... Believe it or not I was on WW a few years back and dropped 70 pounds. I kept all of the stuff and am just going by the points system. I know!! I lovvvvve the recipes. I did this one for Moo Shu chicken tonight and even made my own whole wheat tortillas... it was insane. I felt like Top Skinny Chef.

Thanks for the compliment on my blog... lol... like i said.. I have a VERY strange sense of humor. I love that people enjoy it... it makes me feel loved haha.

Lol, you are so cute! I know, the meetings and having some poofed up haired woman stare at me like I ate a pound of fudge before I got there always made me feel like a smurf. The only advice she ever gave me was to tell me to keep carrots in my car... lol... seriously. I was like.. carrots? I love them but I only spend like 10 minutes a day in my vehicle. I too decided to do it for myself and my nine year old sister who is in the 95th percentile of children her age who in danger of being obese. I blame my mother who would rather give her a can of chef boyardee than fix the kid lunch. I have her all summer and watched her as she exhibited the same signs that I did at her age and the thought of her living her life with me as her role model and no home support just devastated me. I started feeding her what i was eating and sending all her food home. Now she would rather have a pickle than a box of oreos... guess its working. aha )

I have that sarcastic sense of humor as well! I'm glad you jump on the scale...I just would rather not know. Ignorance is bliss!

I know ABOUT what I weigh and that's good enough for me. To me, weight is a number - the way I know I've lost weight is looking in a mirror. If my clothes fit (which these days is rare!), my love handles aren't so obvious, or that "cute" little tummy pooch isn't sticking out and making me look knocked up I know I've done some good.

I'm new as well and I have already found an AMAZING group of people...I cannot wait to see what we all accomplish! Now if I can just fit into that prom dress from senior year.......

I avoided the scale by locking it in the trunk of my car. Since I lived in a 3rd story apartment I thought twice about weighing myself several times a day. I eventually become trustworthy enough to move it back in the house.
