Sounds Bizarre, But I Starve When My Weight Is Dropping!
Does this happen to anybody else? I am eating plenty of calories on my program, usually 1800+ per day. Today, I've had 1400 calories (it's only 4:30 pm!) But I'm still so hungry! I would bet you that within a day or two my weight will drop a pound or two. Then I'll go back to feeling comfortably full by the time I've eaten my cals. for the day. I've lost 19 lbs. in four months (five weeks of that on vacation, not dieting), and I just get a feeling when I'm dropping ... I don't sleep as well either. Anybody else experience this?
By the way, a few years ago, I lost almost 50 lbs., and had the same thing happen!
What foods are you eating? Are you eating much fiber or vegetables or protein? I find that I still feel hungry if I don't eat lots of veggies and get enough fiber and protein and water. WHAT I eat is as important as HOW MUCH I eat, if I want to feel full and satisfied.
I know exactly what you are talking about!! I eat about 1500 well-balanced calories every day, and am usually not hungry for more. Then some days I am inexplicably not satisfied with my 1500 (which I stick to anyway), and shortly after, I see a loss.
I've heard other people describe this too-- maybe we are really in touch with out bodies?
I don't know about the hunger so much, but I get so thirsty I can tell I'll be dropping. I mean, I always drink a lot of water, but some days I'm making myself get another glass, or choosing to have water instead of something else. But other days, I'm up getting a glass of water before I even realize it. Nonstop water all day. That's when I know more weight loss is following.
To those who asked, I'm getting plenty of protein and plenty of fiber. It's ONLY when pounds are dropping that I get the starving feeling ... then within a day or two, I'll drop a pound or two. I get a hollow, insatiable feeling that even close to 2000 *good* solid calories in a day doesn't totally take away. I know it sounds weird ... but that's moi! mariarose, glad I'm not the only one! Julie, that's interesting with your water cravings .... Oh well, we 'll stand what we have to as long as the lbs. drop off, right???
Our bodies are different...hey, at least you've recognized a pattern and can anticipate it and work with it. Paying attention to patterns is always good, IMO, because you start learning about your body and how it functions. Good for you for paying attention and recognizing it - just one of those odd quirks to adjust to.
I don't get the hungry feeling but I do get the thirst.
I've just re-started my diet, with a long way to go, so in the first 10 days have dropped 7lbs. (I know the real grind starts now!) For the first week I just couldn't keep away from the tap (faucet) I was just so thirsty. I put it down to the weightloss.
