Ugh, why is it that when you get BACK on your diet things always pop up to try to negate your efforts?

I work in a middle school and I'm sure there are a few others of you that can attest to the fact that schools are the WORST place to work as far as food goes. There is ALWAYS food around, teachers and staff LOVE to eat and of course the PTA and other companies love to attempt to feed us.

Today is the first day back in the office after having 5 days off. Its my first REAL day back on the wagon and what is sitting in the main office... a WHOLE freakin' TRAY of chocolate chip cookies. The really good kind at that. Every time I walk in there they ask me if I want one, which I politely reply "No thank you." [Truth is I want the whole tray... and a glass of milk!]

*sigh*

Anyone else had this happen today?

I totally understand..... people love bringing in doghnuts, cupcakes, cookies and don't get me started about me having to restock the candy machine!

I just give them dirty looks and they learn in time not to ask me..... I'm kidding, well kinda.... People are starting to see a difference in how I look and are starting to offer me fruit in stead.... It's a really big accomplishment.... but I don't really like the days that there are snacks..... I did have a bit of snickers the other day and it made me gassy, now not that tempted to eat that junk.....

I work alone for the most part, and the people I do happen to see are all men and don't usually think about bringing in food. But last Friday I came in and there was a whole box of donuts on my desk, good ones from the bakery. Including maple bars (my FAV!!) so I took the whole box and moved it out to the warehouse, out of sight out of mind. Do I really want to undo ALL the hard work I've done for one sugary fat bomb? Nope!

I work at coldstone! Try that for difficult. We can eat all the free ice cream and candy that we want, and it's always at a hands grasp. I can't get rid of it. It's difficult. My mini goal this week is to not eat ANY ice cream. So far so good.... hopefully today will go as well!

Agreed!! I would never have the self-control to avoid all that ice cream just an arm's length away. garstar, if you make it through the week I'd call that a HUGE accomplishment!

Ohhh Garstar! I'm so sorry.

I am the world's WORST ice cream addict. If I know its there I want some.... not a LOT, but I freakin' love ice cream. I really need to start cutting out a large majority of sugars out of my diet because I CRAVE them.


The cookies are gone (they gave them to the cookie monster aka my boss) so that's good. I guess I should just be thankful I had the self control not to dive into them (especially when I went into my best friend/co workers office and she had 4 sitting on her desk while she was eating BBQ potato chips!).

I used to have that problem when I was low-carb dieting (Atkins). I started WW in April and I will sometimes overindulge, but I do not have near the guilt that I was going to have to go back and restart Phase I because I completely blew the whole ketosis thing. I don't have near the problem with eating too many cookies if I grab a diet coke or something to drink with it.

Garstar, maybe you'll reach the point where you're just repulsed (haa) by ice cream cause you're around it so much? That's happened to some of my friends who've worked around specific types of food (mainly pizza) for extended periods of time. Don't know if that applies to desserts too

It does apply to ice cream! I worked at a boutique ice cream store in high school, with wonderful flavors. Now I can't look at the stuff.

Unfortunately, the pizza thing didn't work for me. Did that for years, but still can't get enough of the stuff.
