Default Hi...Gayle from Nebraska... nice to be here.

Hi all... lovely being here!!! What a great place to be for support and sharing!!!

My name is Gayle, I live in Nebraska and I have had weight issues since I can remember. What can I say... my mama gave birth to big kids!!! Thank God for sports, that saved me during most of my school years. I was quite the athlete back then, went on to play college sports... and then decided it was time to take a break I guess...lol...because I blew up like a balloon!!!
It's been quite the ride since then... yoyoing up and down on the scale until the past 6 yrs, then I just gave up it seems. My Dad and husband both past away in the same year and it set me into a spiral physically, mentally and emotionally.
A year ago, I landed my dream job and my boss is the coolest gal ever, and she has been talking to me about getting a life and feeling healthy. She can see how my weight is a struggle, well who couldn't... realistically I am 150lbs over weight... but anyways she has planted the seed, and frankly I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. So last week I started the SB diet and am on p1.
Today is my 7th days and I have lost 13 lbs...yay. I have kept my goals very simple...stay away from the naughty list and exercise daily for 20 min. This next week I will be adding time on to the exercise. I find I have to keep it simple because I am an "all or nothing" person. Too easy to set myself up, and honestly I can't afford to not get healthy, because at 42 I feel like I am 92.
Glad to be here...I am on a mission and I won't stop even when it is complete!!!
Thanks to all who post and share their stories, inspirations and all the good stuff!!!

Welcome, glorenz. Yes this is quite the place for support. And you can get it in the comfort of your own home. I was just thinking about the web today and how nice it must be for people who are homebound.

Hi Gayle! Welcome to the site and to the South Beach Way of Life! I'm a "Beacher" too.

to you re: the loss of your Dad and husband! I can't even imagine what you've gone through.

Congrats on getting your weight back in track. I wish you the best of luck! Enjoy the ride!
