I'm so glad I found this website. I just made the decision the other day to *finally* get healthy, this time for sure. It'll help to have a support system.
Anyway, my name is Stevie and I was currently flabbergasted to learn I weigh almost 170lbs! I'm a short gal, only 5'4". So this is definitely not working for me. My incentive is to just feel sexy in a little black dress, and not have to worry about wearing a tummy tucker or anything like that. I would love to wear a skimpy bikini next summer too - something I have never, not once, been able to do. And as a woman, that's my right, as long as I'm comfortable doing it!
In a nutshell - I'd like my target weight to be between 125-130lbs.
At the suggestion of a GNC store manager, I start a body-cleanse tomorrow as part of my beginning process. Any suggestions you all might have for ANY part of the getting healthy journey would be welcome!
Hey Stevie, welcome! I just found this website a few days ago too and it's already been really inspirational.
If you get sick of dieting and exercising and your ready to give up, go check out the goal! forum and look at a few of the before and after photos. They can be pretty motivating.
Welcome, Stevie! I love this website. I also love WW. That is how I lost my weight and it has been pretty easy. I haven't given up any foods; it's all about portion control, and in my case, exercise. My only suggestion is to make sure that when you exercise, mix it up, so as not to do things you hate or that start to become really boring. Also, it doesn't seem like you have a lot to lose, so check out the featherweight section. I don't have much to lose anymore either and I have found that I am working a lot harder to get it off now. Your goal sounds great. My goal is to look as great as I feel now. I never thought I would ever be able to get back to 155 after I had my baby last year, and that it would come off so fast. I mean in comparison to how long it took to put on. I gradually gained, since high school, about 15 pounds (ten years). Not much, but, boy, is it a really stubborn 15 pounds. So I find myself in the same position as I was before I became pregnant. Good luck to you!
Hey - I used to live in Muk-town too. Class of 06, go Knights! LoL.
My main focus during (and after) the body cleanse is to start changing the way I eat. I'm a compulsive eater... and I often go after the bad things. I'm also going to start walking every night after work. I did this for the first time last night, and even though I was very tired, I ended up sleeping better. My fiance is losing weight along-side me, so we may try to find new ways to spice up exercise... hikes, open swim at Forest Park pool, etc. We're contemplating using a dietary supplement to go alongside the lifestyle change, but we're not sure which one is good to use. I'm just trying to venture back into the world of physical fitness - because I'm not being forced to take aerobics at Kamiak anymore!
