Oh ye diet gods, why must ye be so painful?

  • So, I haven't had a real period in probably a year, thanks to birth control, stress and diet. My body really doesn't know what to do with itself anymore.

Over the last few days, I've had feelings in my abdomen that felt like cramps. I dismissed it to 'gas' and went about my way. This morning I woke up to a horrible surprise. Yep! There was wonderful ole' aunt flo.

Would explain the *****iness and cramps, however, I have never had PMS symptoms (other than cramps) before! Blaaaah!

Anyway. I hurt. Mother nature sucks. I stayed on plan to day just to spite the world.
  • LOL, I just adore this post. I'm sorry you're going through it, but I LOVE your "stayed on plan today just to spite the world" comment! That! is BRILLIANT!

I hope that mentality is contagious! But I also hope you feel better soon
  • *smiles* I figured, once the water retention is over and my body figures out what its doing, I'll be down even more weight than pre-period weight. Might as well make the week of suffering worth while somehow
  • I completely understand.
  • Wow, what a shocker that must have been. But your attitude, oh wow, good for you!! I definitely chuckled at staying on plan to spite the world

Period.. Period.. agh. I know it's healthy and all, but I seriously wish it came less often. I could even do once every 2 months, ya know??

On the other hand, I am a little concerned after reading that you haven't had it in about a year. I hope that's a healthy outcome of your birth control or that you've kept an eye on it and spoken with a dr.
  • I am sooooooo thankful I know longer have to deal with my "monthly" but I hear ya about the pain the everything! Forty effing years of that! Glad you feel better!

Yeah, I've talked to my doctor about it. I'm on Seasonique which is the birth control that lets you have only 4 periods a year. When my 'week off' would come up, my period just wouldn't start. I think my body was just used to not having one. My doctor said some people get that. Its been nice, but I think my body rebelled this time because I'm not even anywhere near my off week and it did this.

Even with it - I lost another 6 lbs since my last weigh in...
