Default Shopping for Soy

I picked this up from the South Beach Diet website via e-mail from the Daily Dish:

Daily Dish
Shopping for Soy

Looking to enjoy the benefits of soy? In the past, this may have seemed like a tall order, but delicious soy products now abound — ranging in variety from imitation bacon and sausage to soy-flour-based cereals — to tempt even skeptical carnivores. Considering soy's possible heart-health and anticancer benefits (and the new-and-improved flavor of most products), there's never been a better time to embrace it. Here is an assortment of great soy products — perfect for every Phase of the South Beach Diet — that you can find in your neighborhood grocery store:

* Soy milk (low-fat plain or artificially sweetened flavored varieties)
* Soy burgers (look for products that contain less than 6 grams of fat per 2-3 ounce serving)
* Soy dogs (look for products that contain less than 6 grams of fat per 2-3 ounce serving)
* Soy crumbles
* Tempeh
* Soy nuts
* Tofu
* Soy chicken strips
* Soy deli meat
* Smoked tofu
* Edamame
* Roasted soy beans

Don't forget soy-rizo.. a soy version of chorizo.. gives an awesome kick and flavor to soups, etc. You can also use it in eggs or anything else you want that chorizo flavor in.

Soyrizo is awesome. Try it in spaghetti sauce (dunno if that's SBD tho). I eat a lot of soy-based stuff and I am a fan of anything by Morningstar, especially the breakfast patties. I also eat a lot of baked tofu (if you can find it).

Tomato sauces are fine on the SBD.

I've never heard of soy-rizo. I'm going to have to check it out the next time I hit the supermarket. Thanks.
