Default I'm feeling a bit frustrated...

So, I have joined fitday.com and many of the foods I put in aren't registering. Am I doing something wrong?? Do they not have brand names in their databanks? Do you always have to spell it perfectly??

I'm also on thedailyplate, because I can't get fitday to work for me. BUT I keep reading such great things about firday from this forum, so I"d love to figure it out! Any suggestions??

A.

Fitday has a much smaller database than The Daily Plate. You will most likely need to create custom foods for your favorite prepared foods. Once they are created, it is easy. A bit of a pain in the beginning, but worth it.

I find I have to add almost everything I eat as a custom food, the good news is you only have to do it once!

That's the reason I don't use FitDay. It seems silly to me that you should have to re-enter all kinds of common foods before you can use it. Makes it wayyy too user-unfriendly for me.

I love DailyPlate because it has a huge database and I can usually find what I'm eating in it. The only thing you have to watch with DP is that many of the items are entered by users and therefore aren't always entirely accurate. But it's easier to check that on a case by case basis, than to have to re-enter any food you want to eat.

yes, i have noticed that some of the calorie counts on TDP are a little off, but usually not by much! Thank goodness! Paper and pencil is a great idea when I'm on a trip (I fly for a living..), does anyone know of a useful calorie counter that i can throw in my bag??

THX!!

I checked out DP and I *love* it!! You're right, the fact it has SOOO many nutritional values in it is fantastic. I don't like the layout as much as I like Fitday though. I'm going to try both for a few days and see which I stick with.

You know I think I actually like the layout better! on DP. I like that everything is on one page. This doesn't seem to be the case with FD...unless I'm not navigating FD correctly...??? Hmmm...

I know both sites break down your food into the pie chart showing carbs/fat/pro. Very enlightening!! I didn't realize how much fat i was consuming!!! It's mostly good fats (which they don't differentiate), but still!! Yowza!! Guess I'm going to have to learn to drink my coffee black!!!
