Hi everyone, started my diet June 1st. I have lost 16lbs so far but the big lady in the mirror is not letting me see!!!!! I feel like I am working really hard, 6 days a week at the gym and counting calories, 1300-1800, it varies day to day, but I just don't see any progress so I am getting really mad. Every day I tell my husband I wish I could lose 10lbs by tomorrow, I know not possible, but I still wish. Anybody else mad? Misery loves company.
My first post I hope its right, everything looks foreign.
well, i'm kinda frustrated, i started my diet about a week after you, and have lost about the same amount of weight...while i wish that weight loss could be faster, i think that 16 pounds in 6 weeks is a healthy rate of weight loss, and more than most people exspect. i also hoped i would lose a little faster because i'm only 19...but i guess not. ~ keep going; you're doing great!
The weightloss journey is full of these kinds of frustrations; I think everyone here has experienced what you're feeling now. But don't lose sight of the fact that 16 lbs in less than 8 weeks is pretty great! Keep up what you're doing and you'll lose more.
Keep up the good work and it will pay off! Think of the weight loss just as a plan to get healthier and not just shedding lbs. That has mad it easier for me. Day by day things will get better just hang in there
You should be proud of yourself. I think 16 lbs is a great way to start a new you. Think of all the benefits you might have now, pants might fit a little loose. Don't lose sight of your goal. You will feel better in a few more months and thank yourself for sticking to your guns. Good luck on your future results.
Oh wow.. 16 pounds in that short amount of time is GREAT!!! Congrats! Also, if the lady in the mirror is telling you otherwise, get a tape measure and ask your hubby to measure you... like chest, tummy, waist, hips, and thighs..and arms. (that's where I measure myself at..) Sometimes you may not see it but you will be able to tell when you actually measure. I lost about 8 inches my first month but only about 2 pounds. So I keep my tape measure near me and measure every month. Also, you may start feeling that clothes are getting lose and bigger. Also, like PenChick said, think of the benefits. Getting more fit and healthier is another great benefit of working out, on top of losing weight. My back used to hurt bad, along with my legs. I couldn't stay standing for long time because of that. I'm great now with both my legs and back. I have no problem whatsoever even going to zoo and walking for hours and hours.
Welcome to 3FC and keep up the good work. Set up mini-goals..What about 10% at a time? So that it gives you the feeling of achievement...
Hi stuck, i think your progress is great. I have been dieting (to various degrees, on and off the band wagon so to speak) since February and have lost about 8 pounds. So you are doing fantastically, keep it up!
Goodness, I have been exercising for a full six weeks and have only lost 3.5#'s and maybe 1" in the waist. I just started keeping a food diary 3 weeks ago though and I think that is going to be a huge factor for me.
I think your progress is fantastic, keep it up!!!!
I don't feel I can see a difference, but I know others do. I can feel a difference in my clothes.
And the best thing is I feel good. I can outdo all my skinny friends on the elliptical!
16lbs is AWESOME!! Try to remember that you see yourself in the mirror every single day and so won't notice the changes as easily. I sometimes looked at myself 65 lbs down and couldn't see much of a difference even though it really was there. It's just because I see myself all the time. Take pictures and measurements, and go by how your clothes feel (the pants-o-meter). You're doing a great job, keep it up!!
Thanks everybody for your comments, I didnt realize its been less that eight weeks. I feel like I have been at this forever, I guess 16lbs is good. I just wish this could go faster.
I have gone down a pant size put I just don't see from where. What is the average before you (the dieter) can see the difference. My husband says he can tell, but I tell him he is a liar.
I don't know how long it takes to see a difference in ourselves, but part of that is because you look every day, so it's difficult to see the little changes... like watching grass grow
