Question myth or truth- eating fruit is better earlier in the day?

ok, I have a friend that is a size 0 but lost quite a bit weight to get there. She was a 10 and is like 5'2 small build. Anyway, that's not the point.

She told me that if I'm going to have fruit it's best to have it in the morning or for lunch then after dinner. Is this true? I do not eat after 6 pm. Is it still not good for me to have a piece of fruit with supper? She also said that eating fruit will make you hungry.

What have you all ran across? It's like I'm getting scared to have fruit. I do mostly raw veggies for snacks anyways, but I love fruit especially since I'm not eating sweets.

Any input is GREATLY appreciated.

I've never heard anything to the effect that you should eat it earlier, but I can tell you from my own experience that eating any fruit makes me RAVENOUSLY hungry shortly afterwards. No idea why, though.

Everyone is different. I need to eat fruit as an "appetizer" if it's going to be in any significant quantity, because I get spikes and drops in blood sugar otherwise (following it up with some protein and fat is what works for me).

Nothing "magical" happens if you eat a certain food at a certain time though.

I've heard the same thing from a trainer. He didn't want me to eat any fruit after dinner (which was protein mostly). The idea is that it's sugar and if you're going to be sedentary, you won't burn it off. I personally feel that it's about calories in and calories out (and meatbolism, so don't starve yourself). You might try your friend's suggestion just to see how it works for you. Last night, I ate some frozen grapes and some cherry tomatoes...right before bed because I was hungry (I went swimming at night). I weighed myself in the morning and I still lost weight. If I hadn't eaten those grapes & tomatoes, maybe I would have eaten something else...something that has even more sugar. I'm not w/ that trainer anymore, so I just do what works for me.

I can eat fruit at any time without any problems with weight loss or hunger. Maybe it's a "your mileage may vary" sort of situation, but for me, it makes not a whit of difference.

My experience is the same as Mandalinn's with fruit. And I've never heard about not eating it at night. As long as it fits into my calorie budget- doesn't matter where or when I eat it.

I feel the same way. I don't time when I eat things as long as I don't go over my calories.
