Default Newbie wanting to say hello

Hi there. I posted a full intro up in the introduction thread...so I won't repeat myself too much here. I just wanted to say hello. I am seriously considering getting a lapband. I am just so tired of being unsuccessful at this diet thing. I need some drastic help. My kids are running circles around me and I can't keep up!

Just a quick question - Does anyone have any info about Cigna Insurance and if they usually cover this surgery? I have an appointment with a surgeon regarding a hernia repair, but my gen. practitioner told me that he also does lapbands and I could talk to him about it. My GP was less than encouraging about it and I was almost in tears as I left my appt.

Thats neither here nor there....just wanted to say hi and ask about Cigna. Look forward to making some new friends!

The only way to find out if Cigna covers surgery is to call them, each plan is different. If they say yes, ask them what you need to do/have to be approved (example: 6 months supervised dieting with a doctor, med tests, counceling, high blood pressure, arthritis...stuff like that).

Good Luck !!!!

nice to meet you, Rhea - and don't let the GP get you down. lots of docs have strange ideas about weight loss [like people who are considering surgery are LAZY and so on] and just don't get it.

let us know what the surgeon said.

I agree with the others, do your homework and find what's right for you. Don't let your doc get you down. Be sure to check out all the options before deciding on any one type.

Dr's are such an egotistical bunch...if it's not there idea...whatever!

Don't let anyone keep you down unless it's "down" you want to go!

AND...if you're half as happy with this set of ladies and gents that come around here as I am, THAT would be saying something!
