Default Let's talk.. PROGRAMS!

So, I'm ALL about programs, apparently! I'm in LOVE with the Couch to 5 K (C25K) which conditions your body to go from being a couch potato to running 3 miles within a 9 week course.

And I'm recently getting SUPER excited about the 100 Push-Ups Program! Basically the same as the C25K, but for your arms!

The idea of being able to do so much amazing stuff by the end of the summer really makes my heart flutter with happiness

But I'm starting to wonder if maybe they're too good to be TRUE

What's the vote? Do ya think these are healthy, amazing, incredible, wonderful programs - or am I getting my hopes up?

And if they are everything I'm HOPING they are ----
Is there one for sit-ups too??

Let's get some feedback!! What do YOU think??

You can start your own program for sit-ups/abdominals....why not? I figured if I can do the 7, 7, 5, 4, 10max (level 2 of 100 PU) I could match it with the same amount of standing ab. routines...(I just didn't post it because I didn't want to detract from the original thread idea.)

whatever you do will build your stamina and strength.

I started the C25K program a while back and it was actually working...then I had no time to devote 3 days per week to it and have since not finished it. I intend on beginning it again soon hopefully once I can get a workable work out schedule. I haven't tried the push up one yet. I broke my left wrist a while back and it hurts to put pressure on it as in doing a push up so I am doing wrist curls to try to strengthen it.

I too tried the Couch to 5K last year and found it a great way to start a running program -- unfortunately my dancer knees rebelled and had to stop. But I do recommend it. At first I didn't think I'd like the music but I found it great to run to. I like the structure of it.

Good luck with it.

you can do anything you set your mind to. as long as you're motivated and committed, there should be no reason why it wouldn't work.

The 5K program works!
I did a similar program with my sister 2 years ago, She was only able to run for 30 seconds,, then 12 weeks later she run 5 k in 30 minutes, non stop..
I am also starting the push up program, will do my test later today.. I guess I will make 1 or 2

C25K totally works!
I graduated the program and can now do 5K, not in 30 minutes - but I can jog the whole thing!
Incremental training does work, and makes it easy to build strength without over doing it.

Yeah, I'm really excited about all of it!

Are there any programs you guys have found that just DONT work? Any favorites that stand out above the rest?

Thumbs up Shoveglove

I really like the Shovelglove program. google shovelglove.

It's 14 minutes a day doing "useful movements" with a sledgehammer padded with a towel or sweater. You do things like shovel, chop, churn butter.

Before I lost my fitness mojo the last time I did this for 2 months straight. I had a huge improvement in strength and was starting to get good definition in my arms.

It looks silly, but its a ton of fun.

I'm a huge fan of Turbulence Training. If any one is interested, I have some video's and a free workout download on my blog.

I started TT in mid-February and have since loss 15 lbs (went from 138 to 123). Prior to TT I was stuck at 138 for the past 5 years (I'm 44 years old and 5'7").

Peace.
