My PCP is sending me for a bunch of blood work this week. I think most of it is dealing with obesity, but I'm not sure. If anyone can give me a clue as to what I'm being poked for, I'd appreciate it.
Complete Metabolic, TSH (thyroid I know), Insulin Level (diabetes), CBC (Complete blood),...NOW the ones I don't understand...FSH, Luteinizing Hormone, S-DHEA, DHEA.
Hi,
It sounds like you have a very thorough doctor... that's nice to see these days...
I've used this site a lot for lab info... http://www.labtestsonline.org/unders...heas/test.html
There's some good info on DHEA levels.
Good Luck...
It sounds to me like she is testing you for PCOS as well as thyroid and other metabolic disorders. FHS, luteinizing, and DHEA are all hormones.
It's good you have a doctor willing to check everything. Just don't freak out until you get back results! I've had all these tests done multiple times and I never had any of the things they tested for.
Here's a great site that explains all the different lab tests:
I find it odd that I am being tested for menstrual issues now that I am regular. I was suffering pretty bad with my cycle from March 2004-April 2007(periods lasting MONTHS, bad pains and other things too yucky to mention) My GYN never tested me for any of these things. Diagnosed fibroids, gave me Nuvaring and sent me on my way. Thank you for the site ladies, was very helpful. I think I will get the bloodwork over with in the morning.
