I didn't see one, so thought I'd make one. It's become one of my fav threads on the General area. Gives me ideas for new books.

I just started Four to Score by Janet Evanovich

I'm reading Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner. It's kind of a sequel to Good in Bed.

I just joined Bookswim.com, which is a Netflix-like service for books. I spend $20 a month and I can keep 3 books out at a time. It works for me because I probably spend LOTS more than $20 a month on books normally and I really have to stop doing that. The library doesn't work for me because I've already exhausted their collection and I'm not really into waiting around while they order things for me (I'm in a small town with a really crappy library).

The last two reads were Blood Orange by Drusilla Campbell and finished At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks this morning. Started Everyman by Philip Roth but not to far into it yet. I did like Blood Orange and At First Sight...never thought that it (At First Sight) would end the way it did.

I'm reading LA Outlaws by T. Jefferson Parker--just started it. But the new Harlan Coben book, Hold Tight is waiting at the library for me. I love his writing.

My non-fiction book I'm working through is Mindfulness Through Depression. It's good.

I'm a big reader. I go on to Amazon.com, see what books are coming out or in the top 100, add the names to my booklist, and then reserve the books on line at my library. I like mysteries and thrillers. That's for fiction. I tend to buy non-fiction. I like spiritual, mind-body health, & self-help books.

Great thread.

Default Books

I am always in the middle of two books at one time--one a traditional book and the other an audiobook which I download into my iPod to listen to when I walk. I belong to bookmooch.com, where I am able to swap books with other readers. I am currently reading Lethally Blond by Kate White and listening to The Broker by John Grisham.

I just finished reading Soon I Will Be Invincible which was a really awesome super hero/super villain book (why aren't there more books about super heroes?). As a huge fan of X-men comics as a kid, it was hilariously factual for a comic book story (if that makes any sense). I also read The Senator's Wife which I enjoyed, but I found the ending to be almost physically painful to read.

I am in the middle of reading Swim to Me which is okay (I'm a huge fan of Weeki Wachi mermaids) but it's one of those "improbably coincidental things keep happening" kind of book which often annoys me. I'll finish it, but it's kinda eh.

Next up: Change of Heart but Picoult is kind of hit or miss for me (which she's great, I love it, but the books I don't like, I really don't like).

I nearly exclusively use the library - I can't afford my book habit.

I set a goal for myself this year...I'm trying to see if I can read 200 books by the end of this year. I have a free account at LibraryThings.com, where I post my books and even do reviews on them.

Current book that I'm reading: Within The Light by Cherie Sutherland. It's a collection of stories on near death experiences.

"First Friends" by Marcia Willett. I only recently discovered Marcia Willett, an English author of contemporary novels. If you haven't read her before, I highly recommend "A Week in Winter" and "A Summer in the Country". She really gets into relationships and motivations.

Edited to add: Have to say I liked the two I recommended above better. Too much infidelity and I hated the ending!

I'm reading "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett. It's kind of been set aside though as I have to get through the AICPCU Property and Liability Insurance Principles as I test on June 6. It feels like I am reading a math book though...LOL! (no offense to any who likes math--but it really does feel like I am reading my Calc book all over again!!)

Oh, I loved Pillars of the Earth! I didn't find it very mathy at all.

I forogt, I also read Confessions of a Carb Queen last week! The author was brutally honest and completely open about the details of her weight gain but she was less forthcoming about her weight loss and her plans to keep the weight off, that part of the book could have been a little more fleshed out for me. Still, good book!

I finished reading We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver a few months ago. Really an amazingly insightful book. The first 90 pages are a bit slow but then it picks up and the ending is mindblowing. Must admit I guessed it but it was still quite good.
I did read the other boleyn girl and her other similar books- a bit too trashy and lusty for my taste.
I am in the middle of reading Grishams The Appeal- very easy to put down.

Oh, I liked We Need to Talk About Kevin. I also really liked Lionel Shriver's other book The Post Birthday World.
