Hi JoDolce, you sound just like me 12 days ago! (see "Emotional") I had hit my all-time high of 165 then and it made me sick to my stomach. Just like you, at one point in time I was 135... I have just realized that I stopped caring so much about what went in my body. College and beer put on the weight, a 3-rd shift hospital position took it off, a 1st shift clinic position and the boyfriend moving in put it all back on. Now I'm trying to get lean for my wedding. The trick is... STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF!!! You already know that your weight can easily fluctuate in a week depending on your water intake, what you consumed, what activities you did.... but keep in mind that weigh loss does not necessarily mean weight loss--> it could just be water weight. What I have been doing and it seems to be working for me is Weight Watcher points... I'm not an offical member but I'm teaching myself to look at calories, fat and fiber. I calculated out the points accordingly and add them up. I was never a diary kind of person, but for the past 12 days I have been keeping a notebook with what I eat.... usually I have Cereal and Skim milk for breakfast.... in time, you will find that using this system, the actual "Serving Size" that is listed on the box and milk jug are satisfying.... then I always have strawberries sliced in half and in a baggie that I bring to work. Lunch was a downfall for me b/c we have vendors that bring in food regularly (Panera, Cheesecake Facotry, etc) so now I bring a lean cuisine.... I figure it is worth the money to buy them weekly to potentially get myself back on track. By the time I get home I'm very cautious of what I eat... but I cook, so I just make sure to use measured amounts of EVOO, when used, and lots of veggies.... they fill you up quicker!!! I make sure to exercise but just like anyone else.... I have those non-motivation days. But the diary helps as does the points. Take yesterday for instance, I had a 7 1/2 in Club from Cousins for lunch.... that was 15.7 points.... I had cereal and milk for breakfast and I was already to 20 of my 23 points for the day. I've been battling a cold but I knew I had to go to the gym to "earn some points back" so that I could eat dinner!!! It's definately working for me.... I certainly feel better and I'm not finding it to hard. If you would like more tips and more detailed information I would be happy to share it with you!!!! Best of luck! Try not to weigh yourself... if you need to measure progress, measure yourself, don't weigh!

AngelPhish,

Thank you so much for the response.... you have no idea how much it brought up my spirits after today.... to know there are other people in your shoes, it kind of makes it so much easier to deal with.... I never thought about not weighing each day and instead measure, what a fantastic idea!

You mentioned you were not an official weight watchers member, but knew how to calculate the points and all of that good stuff, if you could fill me in on how that works that would be great, either that or maybe i will just go to a local weight watchers place and try and pick up the tools without joining, not sure if hey will let me do that.....

Well if anything maybe we could do this journey together, we both have 25 pounds to drop, which I guess isn't that bad in comparison of how much we might of have had to lose, when is your wedding, that is so exciting!?

Why not join WW? You can join it on line if you find it hard to get to meetings. It's a very successful program!

To be honest with ya there,I wish I was 160 right now, that's still 37 lbs away, and you being 5'7",it doesn't seem to me like you would be that big at 160,unless of course you're like me and carry ALL of it in your behind and hips!!LOL But we're here for ya,and this site is awesome!!
