Default Motivation....what motivates you?

Hi, I've been on and off of this site for quite awhile now, and I needed to come back, need the support and love reading the posts.

I need to get "mentally" prepared first, I'm working on that, so I can begin eating better/cleaner and to start moving. I read one lady gets up at 3:00 AM (this is the only time she has for herself) and works out. I hit the snooze at 5:30 AM, but need some words of wisdom and a swift kick to get me motivated again. I'm busy working and working with the horses to be in a bathing suit much in the summer, so putting on a bathing suit isn't motivation to me. Help....suggestions? Thank you !

I'm motivated by how great it will feel to get into those size ten jeans...and to wear a bikini! I have NEVER worn a bikini and I'd really love to

One part of my motivation is to feel better about myself. Right now I am healthy, but if I continued down the path I was on, the health problems would start . So good health is a motivation.

Also, you may not worry about looking good in a bathing suit, but what about other items of clothing. I bought a super nice winter coat on clearance earlier this yes. It was the only one left, and it fit my personality just right. It is too small. So that is a second part of my motivation. I want to wear that coat when fall comes around. I have not lost much yet, but every week I am incorportating more and more healthy and active things into my lifestyle, because I am determined to lose weight. All I can say is make yourself do it for a week, and after that you will WANT to do it, and you will be motivated. GOOD LUCK!

I'm motivated by my health mainly, but something that encourages me is rewarding myself for good behaviour. If I have a fast food craving, I take the money I was planning to spend on fast food and buy pretty fresh cut flowers instead. When the flowers are set up in my home, the cravings are over, I am rewarded by how they look and when I see them they are a reminder of my ability to do this, and that is motivating for me. Also, going onto the maintainers forums and looking at before and after pictures is very motivating too.

Nothing motivates me more than the numbers on my scale. When I'm at goal or below it inspires me to continue. I never want to see 204 on my scale again.

Honestly? Porn stars. I want to look like one so I can start stripping and get some money to pay back the massive loans I'm going to have once I get out of college!

I'm inspired by my youth.

For so much of my youth and allll through high school I was teased for my weight. As I graduated I thought, well, there goes my youth.

But then one day I realized. High School's supposed to suck. COLLEGE IT WHERE THE FUN IS!! and I wanna have as much fun as possible.

So basically, the fact that I am young and can change my life around motivates me the most (and of course, the fun stuff too).

Thank you for your words...I have to navigate around to find the maintainers forum. I'm sure that would help me. I am working on "visualizing" my ideal size/body. I need to tone up, drop some weight of course. I do have clothes I would like to wear, maybe if I hang the small pair of jeans that I can't fit into, somewhere where I "see" them and us that as a motivater as well. Thanks for responding. I'll keep at it. Best of luck to all of US!!

I'm motivated by all the clothes I have in my closet that don't fit! If only I could wear them, I'd look so much better!!! Instead, I have to wear clothes that make me look like I'm older. I'm sure there's a way to wear clothes better when one is heavier, but why try to make it work when it would be better for me all around to just lose the weight? I'm also motivated by the fact that I live in an area where most people are skinny and even though I have lots of friends, inside, I don't feel like I really fit in due to my size. I would really love to just be as fit as my friends.

I have 2 big motivators at the moment -

First, my two young daughters. I want to be a role model to them so a healthy and active lifestyle needs to circumvent the old couch potato, workaholic routine I've been so good at. I also don't want their friends teasing them as they get older for having a fat mom.

Secondly, I plan to start looking for a new job in the near future and while I like to think my weight has not interferred with my career since I'm quite successful, I can't help but wonder where I'd be if my thighs weren't the size of a normal woman's waist lol.

When I have a tough day, I look at my recent full weight pics compared to me a few years and many pounds ago...I need to get back there...goal weight btw takes me back to 1984, ha!

This picture of me five years ago while on vacation. This was the first time, as an adult, that I felt really good about my body. And I felt great physically, I had a ton of endurance! I miss feeling that way (both mentally and physically) so that is what motivates me. It was only 5 years ago, but I feel 50 years older with all of this weight on me...

Initially it was being able to wear a bikini and run as long as I wanted!

Now it's that photo in the corner

I got there and now I am going to stay there!

My motivation is finishing the tattoo that I started on my back. The areas that still need finishing are in fleshy areas that will shift after weight loss so I have to wait. My other motivation is $10. For everyday that I get up and workout and eat right for the day I put up $10 to spend on whatever I want! I know it doesn't seem like much but we don't have much and it adds up nicely! By the end of the week if I stick with it I can get those running shoes I've been wanting!
