Default bagels bagels bagels!!

Bagels are my complete downfall. Ever since college I have been eating them almost everyday! I know its horrible. My Mini-goal is to only allow myself to eat 1 on the weekends. I just have to find a breakfast that I like just as much as bagels. ANy suggestions?

Look for Western Alternative Bagels.
Then, if you like Cream Cheese, buy the new Weight Watcher individual serving packs.
The two together are wonderful.
Low calories and low WW points.

Bagels are my downfall, too. Another problem is that "diet" bagels and cream cheese don't really do it for me, so I solve that by going to the bagel shop every Sunday and getting a really good bagel, but I don't buy any to keep at home. In the mornings, I've learned to substitute whole wheat waffles, english muffins, cereal and granola.

I love the Western Alternative bagles too...with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray....toasted, they're yummy. Another trick I've heard of is to take out the inside of the bagel, so you just eat the shell. Just allow yourself a limited amount and then, you'll know that you will get your bagel, but you just have to wait for it.

I know this won't be any help at all but someone in our office is leaving today and the following note went out just as I came in: Team, If you get a second this morning please stop by Susan’s office for a bagel treat….It’s a great way to start your day and a reminder to say farewell to a good friend….

Well, it's taken me all morning to avoid her darn office and I'm afraid she'll just have to go away without a farewell from me because if I get near that huge box of Panera bagels and full-fat flavored cream cheese my day will be ruined!

Bagels... Food at work. Why?

I love bagels for breakfast.

I toast half a bagel and spread it with 2 tsp natural peanut butter. Yum! That and my cappucino protein shake starts my day very well.

Bagels used to be my breakfast staple until I realized that I was not doing myself a favour (the cream cheese did not help). I quit cold turkey.
These days, I actually love the bagels from the President's Choice Blue Menu, especially the cinnamon-raisin ones. They are small, whole wheat, each bagel has 160 calories and when I have a craving for something sweet, I have a toasted cin.-raisin bagel with a bit of margarine (with omega-3) and the pomegranate/black currant jam (to die for, also from President's Choice Blue Menu) and I am happy.

Awww guys, not all bagels are evil. I buy the Thomas' mini multigrain bagels. One mini bagel is just enough for me (I find that a regular sized bagel is just too much bread) and they're only 100 calories.

I personally like them plain with butter spray, I'm not a huge fan of cream cheese.

I love bagels and when I'm falling, bagels are part of my downfall. I know the ones I like contain 300-500 calories and I don't even do cream cheese. Either allow it as a special treat or try to find ones that are lower calorie. It may take some experimenting. When DH was eating bagels for breakfast, I'd buy him Lender's bagels.

Alvarado Street Bakery frozen sprouted wheat bagels are 250 calories. I zap them in the microwave for 1 minute and then toast them. For breakfast, a half with a little low fat cream cheese or pb comes in under 200 calories.

For lunch, I use 2 tbsp. low fat cream cheese (60 calories) or hummus (50 calories) and pile with fresh spinach, tomatoes, sprouts, roasted red peppers, sweet red onion, whatever I have and/or am in the mood for.

I don't eat them all that often just because it's not the highest protein meal so I usually have to compensate with high protein, low carb meals for the rest of the day. But it's a decent choice when I'm really in the mood for a bagel.

I can vouch for the Western Bagels alternative bagels too. I love those and at 110 for 1 decent size bagel it seems like a nice calorie bargain. They have all sorts of flavors...my favorites are cinnamon spice and sweet wheat =). I eat them plain or with some peanut butter....*DROOL*

Pepperidge Farms makes a 1 POINT bagel that is whole grain and whole wheat. I eat one with a tub of the WW 1 POINT cream cheese for a 2 POINT breakfast.

I'm not a big bagel fan but all this talk about bagels got me wanting one. So yesterday I looked to see if I could find a bagel that wasn't caloric enough to be considered a meal replacement. The only ones I could find were mini bagels (can't remember the brand as I didn't buy them) at 120 cal. per 2. I would have bought them but they only came in white (at the store). I'm going to look when I go to town to see if I can find some whole grain mini bagels. One mini bagel at 60 calories would be great.
