Default Hypoglycemia

Hi, I'm new here at the diabetes support part of 3FC.
I've been hanging out with the calorie counters so far.

I often feel like my sugar is too low (dizzy, tired, hungry) when it really isn't. It might actually be 100-110. I was told that I'm running too sweet and that my body would get used to those sugars after a while and I wouldn't feel that way. But I'm having a hard time waiting out the adjustment, then I end up eating sugar and then I feel like total crap.

Any suggestions or encouragement? Thanks for being here.

Unfortunately, WATERCOLOR, you've been told correctly. The higher our BGL is and for the longer it runs high, the more natural it becomes and consequently we get those nasty hypo feelings at what otherwise would be acceptable numbers. What kind of readings are you getting both pre-prandial and post-prandial? BTW . . . are you one any medications or just trying to handle things with diet and exercise? You are on the right track, Chickie and as the weight comes down the BGL should stabilize too. In the meantime, try to treat those feelings with just a little carb instead of a bunch of it and include some protein as well. You also might want to have some glucose tablets around. they do the fastest job on raising the BGL a little and I don't know of too many people who are tempted to overeat them.

Hi JEANNE . . . I know, it's very quiet . . . in the regular chat thread too. We haven't heard from Rosey for a little bit (since shortly after she ended up in the hospital with the numbness in her legs) and I'm getting quite worried about her. Hope things are okay.

Thanks Jeanne and meowee!!!

Thanks for the advice!

Meowee, I am on 1000 of metformin taken at night. I only check morning BS, which is usually 110-125. Lower end if I exercise regularly, higher end otherwise. It's the kind off obesity induced type II, because I lost 30 lbs and my A1c went from 6.9 to 6.1.

I really gotta kick myself in the butt and lose more weight. I really think my diabetes will go into remission if I do. What is so horrible about motivation that I can't seem to get in gear?

Metformin is not usually connected with lows, but you might ask your doctor about splitting the dose between morning and evening . . . that's how I do mine.
