Default HEY! I'm New Here

Hello Everyone!
My name is Angie, I am 26 years old and am a stay at home mommy to my daughter that is almost 2. I found this site online and decided to join...because I could really use some support on my weight loss journey. I have struggled with weight my whole life, but never actually hit 200. Once I got pregnant I gained a lot of weight, and I don't even know what my highest weight was...my daughter is almost 2 now and I still have NOT lost my baby weight. I am 230lbs and would love to get down to 160. Being overweight has totally taken control of my life. I hate going out in public, hate shopping cause nothing fits and have been really really depressed all because of my weight. My husband is in the military and with him leaving so much it gets me down and causes me to eat - because I have nothing else to do and feel bad for myself. I am tired of using food to comfort me. I have failed on about every diet I have ever tried and I really want to do it this time! I am looking forward to meeting some of you and having people to help me through this!!!

WELCOME Angie! Your story sounds no different from any others, guess thats why we are all her.

Have you decided on what plan you will follow or what changes you will make?

Be sure to look around the site and post as often as possible as you will find lots of motivation & support.

Next time you feel like eating when you get down - exercise instead and that will have you on your knew path.

Good luck!!!!

I totally understand what you are going through with the husband gone all the time. Mine is in the AF and has been deployed 3 times in the last 3 years for 6 mo . at a time. It gets lonely and it is so much easier to sit on the couch and eat icecream and be depressed than to go walking or to the gym. You know, they say if you do anything for 3 week straight, you will make it a habit. Shop around for the right lifestyle change (diet is short term) and stay strong. I just posted my newbie intro right after yours. Good luck and keep in touch! April. (aka FluffyButt- self assigned nickname)

I'm a newbie here also and in need of support ... I guess here's to both of us for admitting we need to make some changes and finding a place that can help us to that.

Hi Angie. Welcome! I'm so glad you found this site!
You mentioned that you use food to comfort yourself. How do you feel after you eat this comfort food?
I struggle with the same thing. I used to get off work and eat a ton of junk to reward myself for making if through the day and deal with stress. But after eating I just felt worse, not better. It was a bad cycle.
I still struggle with this, but now I come home from work and get some exercise. I started doing Taebo, and then started running outside and going to the gym. I LOVE it! Getting exercise is now how I relieve my stress after work, and after I exercise I feel good about myself (instead of feeling horrible about myself like I did after eating too much). I never would have guessed that I actually would enjoy working out this much!
Anyway, the moral of the story is to decide what will make you feel better: eating junk or losing weight?
Beth

I'm an emotional eater too.. But it's an icky cycle. If you're like me, you feel worse after you've done it, which only makes you eat more, which only makes you feel worse. Lets kick that cycle

Hi Angie.
I am new too. I have around 70 lbs to lose also. Maybe we can manage some of those goals together?
