Question Calorie King?

I am trying to get more serious with calorie counting but have been having difficulty tracking my calories since sometimes I'm not near a computer and can't go to fitday or some website like that just to look something up and it's getting a bit tedious. So I looked up calorie counting books that are like pocket books that you can put in your purse and etc and found online a website called calorieking.com and they have a calorie counting book that seems impressive. Any thoughts/opinions from anybody that may have one of these books?

thanks,
Brit

I actually have the Calorie King Pocket Calorie Counter (because Jillian Michaels recommends it). Because I use FitDay and read labels, I haven't really needed to use it. I make my food 95% of the time, so I already know what the calories are before I cook it and I record them in FitDay. I do have the Calorie King as a backup, though--it's currently sitting in a drawer

Calorie king rocks!!! There is a fee,but it is really simple to use and they have EVERYTHING in their database. plus you keep count of your water and exercise too. I highly recommend it.

Oops, i thought you were talking about the online. I had the pocket version years ago and loved it!!! its great if you dont have access to a computer. Good luck with it.

I've used the Calorie King palm pilot software throughout my weightloss, and I'd happily recommend it to anyone. I think some of the newer cell phone pda's (like blackberries, iphones, etc.) can be used for this too. The CK food database is periodically updated with new product and restaurant info, and menu planning and modifying is a snap.

I don't have the book, but I'd give Calorie King overall a thumbs up.

I have the Calorie King pocket book too. It has been an invaluable tool for me. I carry it in my purse so it is always there should I need it. I have also pulled it out during my lunch break and let co-workers look up the resturant guide so they could see exactly what they just brought in from the local burger joint. Now many of my co-workers ask to look at it before they leave and while they still eat out they have been making better choices. That in turn helps me out because I still struggle and it makes it hard when they bring in all the stuff I can't have.

I think that book is a very helpful thing to have. Lots of information packed into a tiny book.

I hardly ever find a reason to use it myself... I guess I'm just always near a computer, lol. I have the book because I helped write an article on CalorieKing back when I was a member, and the staff member I worked with sent me one as a thank-you gift. I do still use their database ALL the time to look things up!

I have the book and love it, I use it all the time. I keep it in a kitchen drawer b/c I cook a lot from scratch and I don't have a computer in the kitchen.

Most items come with nutrition labels, but a lot of them still don't, like veggies, fruits, meats, etc. I'm constantly looking things up on it. If you're counting calories it's a great tool. I had originally purchased it when I was doing WW, but the fiber wasn't listed so I didn't use it much, but now that I'm counting calories I couldn't be w/o it.

You made a great purchase, plus it's small enough to carry it around!

I just got the CK book myself. I'm already finding it very helpful. It's especially helpful for when you have to eat out.

Another vote for the Palm software. I LOVE it. So many commercial foods are already in the database. CK really does have a great product.

I don't know about the books but I use the software...not the online version but the stand-alone one and I really like it.
